I’m sold on him but he’s going to be behind Dahlin and Pilut IMO. - sbroads24
I'm not ready to call Pilut a top 4 yet.

I question how valuable our assets are, aside from the 1st rounders. - Lunaion
Definitely.
Nylander and guhle probably have some value.
Cj smith, oloffson, borgen, not so sure?

He's solid. Has been progressing nicely for most part. Every player has a year to forget and his was last year. |

Maybe. Not sure how McCabe is viewed. 5/6 is my book. Not sure what that's worth....or what their plans may be for keeping him.
I think our most valuable prospects are Thompson and Asplund. I don't see either being moved. - Lunaion
Jbotts specifically mentioned jack, sam, risto and McCabe as the core.
I think he was being truthful |

It’s obviously not set in stone he is but I’m confident.
Either way the LD pipeline is
Dahlin
McCabe
Guhle
Pilut
Samuelsson
They can afford to deal from there |

If Sam continues what he's doing, I'm dealing him in the off season. He's got some tough calls to make on contracts, before they've won a thing.

I’m fine dealing Sam if it brings back someone who can anchor a line.
Making a lateral move seems pointless |

He's been very good so far. Guhle/McCabe are probably the trade candidates |

Guhle has to still be up there too. - sbroads24
Guhle still looks like he's trying to catch up to the speed of the game, and I don't mean with his skating. He's taking longer to develop but I still think he'll be a good 2n d pairing D man.
Risto isn't going anywhere, it's crazy talk
It's nice to see some slowly coming around to my Eichel over McJesus/Matthews argument. Maybe another year or two to forget the highlights and hype and look at the results may help. Jack is 4pts behind McJesus in 2.5 minutes less TOI per game (not sure what the games played numbers are but you get my point)
To say Jack doesn't take over games like McJesus or Matthews does (although maybe in a different way) just isn't factual.

Yeah that last part is key imo - Sabresfan-365
How many contracts has LeBron signed? 6? With what? 2, 3 more to go?
Crosby likely 3. Ovechkin probably 3. Including their ELCs. It also helps that a 4 year deal for a midrange guy in the NBA is worth an 8 year deal, and more, for a super star in the NHL. |

Id still try and negotiate a potentially team friendly deal first. I think his lack of speed prevents you from being able to get a haul.
Cost of replacing him outweighs re-signing him unless he asks for something insane. |

I think he's got another big move in him next summer. This isn't the end product, and he can't just hand out big, long term extensions to everyone.

Honestly we've reached a point where thats true of some 2 year deals.
Jabari Parker literally can't and won't play defense, got a 2 year 40 million dollar deal. |

what did he ask for in the summer?
If its 6 or under Id just re-sign him. You'd end up replacing him with someone older who's best you won't see. At least with Sam it will be through his prime. |

I think regardless of all of this, it was a bad look by the Blues organization.
They basically swindled both the player and the Sabres organization.
The trade happened on July 1. The start of the off-season. I mean, come on, this is pretty blatant cap circumvention by the Blues, TBH.
Instead of approaching the player to submit an updated list, they traded him the SECOND they had the chance.
This just goes to show that employers are shady no matter what your line of work is. It's simply in bad taste to have traded him the literal first day he had a modified NTC kick in on his ludicrous contract to begin with.
He showed up to the Sabres, was promised top-9 minutes and was given no chance to develop chemistry with his team mates, on a team that finished DEAD LAST in the standing last year.
I am ALWAYS for the employee in these situations. If I was hired to be an NFTA bus driver and they made me go drive a school bus for middle school kids, I would be furious, wouldn't you?
That said, he isn't acting any more entitled than any other athlete, ever. Yeah, he made a couple poor decisions, but come on, these are people, too, with a grueling travel schedule, and habits just like the rest of us.
Say he got hammered and was too hung over to make the flight the next day... How many of us have done this? And if we hated our jobs... Well, how many of us have no call/no showed a job? I know I have, albeit when I was younger...
Regardless, I'm with Derk Aiser on this one, I do not see a MATERIAL BREACH of a 5-year contract and this isn't a regular job, the fact that it's CONTRACTUAL WORK alone should be enough for anyone to realize this isn't a matter of firing a guy for a no call/no show. - BeadyEyedDouche
Like hell you are. Not on this issue (you have misread my posts, which were informational, not opinions), and not ever (because your judgment is entirely franked up). |

Sure he celly's hard, but Risto as the main piece in a trade probably brings back a lot. - Sabresfan-365
Depends on if you see this year as the noise as opposed to the signal. I think it's signal, mostly. He had a bit of a slow start, but he has been excellent for the last 6 weeks. His EV points are way up, which can mostly be attributed to better players around him. 4th in ATOI 2nd in actual minutes. He's not icing the puck as much either, his shifts per game is right around the others in his ATOI range, which again I think is a function of better talent throughout.
Who are we getting? You'd have to add to get someone like Point or Marner(a good young forward on a team that's likely to be in a cap crunch), and someone like Stone or Duchene would be (massive)overpayments. Looking at the top 50 scorers I don't see a deal that a team would make. Either the Sabres or whomever. They're either too old to make sense for the Sabres or too young to make sense for the other team.
Maybe someone like Granlund, but I think he's on the edge of being too old. If Risto was like 26, then sure.
But who knows? I don't think anyone saw Skinner being traded for parts, but then again he's a UFA, and I'm definitely not trading Risto for a UFA in a year unless they're extended. It seems like an offseason move to me if anything. |

There are only about 4 players in the NBA who can and will play defense though, but I take your point. |

I think I'd pencil him in there. Not quite at the Sharpie stage yet. But we've been fooled by a young player with poise before *cough Myers. |
