I agree completely on this. I just think they'd be better served with a coach who has weight behind him.

Problem is the guy who's got weight didn't want to be here yet and Hak had lost the team so bad it was not repairable. Now what is the option. Bring in a new voice with the backing of management. Now management has to back that new voice or he's instantly undermined.

It certainly doesn’t look good. I’m at least glad fletcher hasn’t made any moves or trades just for the sake of it. I wonder if he and holmer sat this Scott guy down and flat out told him this will likely be an evalution year. I just hope they take a stand as sellers soon. Kill any false hope

WTF did Dave Scott expect when he decides to change direction mid-stream and then they announce it to the entire league they’re looking to move their prospects for immediate help?

They knew what Hextall was doing for the past four years. If you didn’t like how he was operating it should have been identified in the first year and corrected. Senior management let this get to this point and it’s not going to get better any time soon.

Clearing the deck happens later in the year, this year is basically done, it’s over.

Whole heartedly agree!! Just don’t want to see them keep digging after they dug themselves a big hole. Yes, they effed this up, but let’s not make it worse. Can’t move forward looking out the rear view mirror!

Which is why I give all the lazy guys previous efforts a pass but clamp down now.

Any half assed effort gets shifts off doesn't matter who. Gordon has full rule of that punishment.

This makes me feel good (From Bill Twitter)
:

While NHL and AHL roster management are two totally different animals, Gordon had a lot of trust in Oskar Lindblom (as an all-situations player) and also knows Sanheim's development path very well from their time together in LV.

Agreed! If I was Gordon, I’d let them know ANYONE who doesn’t play with the heart of a champion will ride the bench. It’s a new day, fresh start, but one that will not tolerate apathy!

Quenneville isn't the only available NHL coach . I agree management has to stand up.

I think Gordon knows a lot of the younger guys on the team and that will be a benefit. Also heard that the players down in the minors loved playing for him and he was a good motivator who inspired confidence , hopefully he can continue that with the big club. Sure he wasn't the best coach with the Islanders but usually no coach is the greatest their first time around. I think he'll be solid behind the bench.

Conditions of hire presented to Chuck Fletcher - by Paul Holmgren.

1. Look concerned about the team in turmoil. Keep it in turmoil in the short term.

2. Fire the coach and replace him with Gordon.

3. Call up Carter Hart - provide a move to get the fans excited

4. Hire Q, but delay his position as coach of the team so as to keep the team in turmoil with hope

5. Continue to kee the team in turmoil and tank for top draft selection. It’s Hextall and Haxtols fault... but it’s fixed for next year.
