It was (frank)ed, six ways from Sunday. No-win for him, no-win for the Flyers
Isaac got it wrong, but SOMEBODY told him Hakstol was fired. Hakstol gets off the plane and is like, WTF? I'm coaching practice tomorrow...right?
Fletcher's like, "Yeah. You're not fired," and they say so
But Hakstol goes home and realizes the truth: There's no (frank)ing way you can coach at the WFC on Tuesday with the squad that quit on you in Alberta. You have to have the backing of the organization, because you can't coach where every single time you lose, you're getting fired
So you ask for the vote of confidence, and Fletcher, right or wrong, can't give that because he doesn't know what he wants to do -- hasn't fired him yet, but might sooner than later
So you gotta give him the knife if you're not gonna give him the assurance
What an absolute mess -- Isaac can't blow his source(s), but man, whoever that was (frank)ed over Isaac, Hakstol and made Fletcher do something before he was ready -- that explains why Gordon wasn't at practice. Fletcher, IF, I repeat IF, hadn't intended to fire Hakstol yet - AllInForFlyers
wow that is really (frank)ed the media needs to stfu sometimes (not Bill keep writing Bill)

I thought I heard a few on TV recently, but yes, it's not an every game thing. - jmatchett383
I've been at games where they absolutely were chanting Fire Hakstol. I was at one game where there were a few fire Holmgren chants as well |

Sounds like standard organization speak to me. Unless Gordon leads them on a 33-13-5 run coupled with a trip to the conference final, he’s gone by seasons end at the latest. - BiggE
Probably true.
It's a nice opportunity for Gordon to have NHL people remember that he didn't completely fall off the edge of the earth. He does know some of the players on this team, so there's some logic to moving him up on an interim basis.

Yup, especially if they move some vets between now and the deadline and bring up some kids. |

In unrelated news, I am trailing by 65 points on my fantasy football playoff game. I have the only player left, McCaffery.
300 yards and 6 TDs sound reasonable to everyone? |

I still think it will be Q.....after the holidays. Fletcher was not in position to admit he has talked with Q or a rep for or Chicago for that matter. Maybe Q is giving it some time....he’s home for the holidays.
Even if he needs some time, who cares as he would be here for the next 5 years for sure. I know I’m in the minority, but if they can get this thing going the right way, I still think talent wise they should be a bubble/playoff team. |

He also knows the guys on the phantoms....he knows if there’s anyone there that can help, short term....maybe that’s why Hart is here? |

I think it will be Q as well, but not until after this season. This season is shot. Q will be watching and letting Fletcher know which vets he wants to work with. He’ll start fresh in 19-20 with a team more to his liking. Plus, the guy deserves some time off. |

This is sarcasm, right? And first report with sources came from Steph Driver Saturday. - bodiva88
Never heard of her. Just read her article from 12/16.
Quenneville will be the next coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. Fletcher is active on the phones trying to make trades before the roster freeze.
Let me repeat, nothing has changed. This is still the plan. Quenneville will be the coach of the Flyers before 2019.
We'll see. No interest in following her though. |

Someone asked Fletcher in the press conference about the timing of Hart's call up and he said it was strictly because of the health of the current crop of Flyers goaltenders.
I think the move also says that Alex Lyon is not viewed as an NHL goaltender by the Chuckster. |

Some reports have suggested Q could start as an advisor this year to help shape the team but not take over until 2019 to give himself time with his family. |

Couldn’t blame him if that’s the course....imagine having that much $ and now you get a nice 10 month vacation to do what ever....not bad. Ek touched on that maybe the Flyers higher him as a consultant later on....I just hope they add a quality guy this time around. |

Probably....maybe he asked the new coach....which of Lyon or Hart gives you the best chance to win Tuesday?
Or maybe the GM was being honest about something ?

Other reporters had heard and reported Gordon was getting promoted and Hak was on his way out.
All that happened was that it took Fletcher till Monday to make it official because they spent Sunday flying across the continent. |

Carchidi is reporting that Gordon will be given a chance to coach the Flyers beyond this season and that the plan is for him to coach the rest of the season. - Dkos

Well, one thing Hextall did that was proven right, was too keep a tight lid on the organizations plans. This was a sh!t show, and I’d revoke the press pass of the reporter/s who ran with the story, and track down the mental midget who leaked information. Made the whole organization look the Keystone Kops. Ridiculous!! |
