They would’ve been able to keep both long term though - jdfitz77
No, no they wouldn’t have without moving some contracts like Okposo’s. |

Definitely but the circumstantial evidence is hard to plausibly deny. Maybe Lehner was the problem? Who knows, but someone was, possibly multiple someones and the people in and around the team say how much better it is in the room now. - Wetbandit1
Winning will do that though, right? |

There was a legit fight on the ice in practice between teammates.
If that doesn’t constitute a locker room issue I don’t know what does. - Stripes77
The Coach already fired in st. Louis this year.
Probably a locker room thing?
Or winning thing? |

Ok, that's kind of what I was saying before. You have to wait for something to happen to file a grievance. - Wetbandit1
Right. It will be interesting to see how this goes. Very uncomfortable for the NHLPA and NHL if it truly is mutual.

So in 63 games with the Blues last year Stastny had 12/28/40...roughly 2x games than played YTD 2018-2019.
ROR in 2018-2019 through 32 games (as close to 50% of 63 games as one can get) has produced 13/19/32. Multiple that pace by 2 to arrive at a 64 game pace he yields 26/38/64 a full 60% better than Syasny lasy year.
Are ypu saying that by letting Stastny go, and replacing him with a guy who produces at a rate of 160% is a reason to say the Blues demise th s season is expected? - IonSabres
What? Stastny was a player who was liked in the room, they were still in a playoff spot, barely, when they traded him, the players went on the record as being confused and disappointed that they traded a good player away when they were still in it. That's not going to make things better. What does production have to do with anything? Some of the most popular guys in the rooms are guys who are role players. Usually they have to be or they move around a lot because they don't bring anything but depth. |

Coach getting fired is always a scapegoat for the GM.

We want to do that anyways
But even without,
Cap goes up about 3mil per year
And a bigger leap when Seattle comes in
$$$ coming off each of the next few seasons as well
What do u think Sam, Dahlin & Mitts are getting on their next deals?
We should have plenty of room to add a Stone, or have kept ROR |

Yeah, the PA went to bat for a serial offender who injures other members of the union. I don't see how they don't go to bat for a player who's being terminated, for any reason. Unless he squashes it, but the union would try like hell to get him to fight it, otherwise why do they exist? |

We could start with blacklisting Metzeric, as an example. - IonSabres

It seemed like it was a bigger deal, you see guys take shots or push and shove each other in practice on bad teams, but dropping the gloves and throwing a stick is pretty rare. Then they brought a puppy onto the ice to try and cool things down, lol. |

No, but you're confusing correlation for causation. St Louis was headed for the basement regardless, it started when they traded Stastny last year when they were still in it and the players hated it, they made the ROR move to try and stop it, but it hasn't worked. Has ROR contributed? Possibly. But the Blues were hardly in a great place before the trade. - Wetbandit1

Absolutely, but as was stated earlier, things were better before the season started. They all said it felt "different" in a positive way. |

He absolutely could've been the one to give them the final push, no one is going to say anything about it, but they were already going in the wrong direction. When players publicly question management it's never a good thing. |

U hit it in the head saying correlation doesn’t equal causation though
J Bo isn’t what he used to be
Pietrangelo is struggling by his standards
Even Tarasenko is having a bad year
And worse goaltending too
But somehow it’s all RORs fault?
That’s just laughable |

Apparently Steen is feuding with other guys. There's plenty of reading material out there about what's going on. I assume most will just yell ROR and move on, so I'm not gonna waste time linking articles |

What the hell does your post even mean?
Games are won on production.
Likeability is nice but means 0, zip, nada.
Im confused, by your point then.
Is it that the team was mentally fragile that they fold their collective tent when 1 player was moved, therefore one could foresee the unfolding this year even though they got a guy who has produced 160 the rate of the beloved player traded.?

Dahlin is going to be $8 million at the very least.
Sam is going to get close to what Skinner gets this year if he keeps up his production.
Mitts probably gets a Sam like deal for 2 years and then jumps up higher.
Plus McCabe, Pilut, Ullmark. |

How much of it is the players themselves talking though? That happened after the Statsny trade. |
