Bouta indulge in some Primantis on Saturday night. First of the year. It’s been a while. |

I only know a little bit about the Patrik Berglund story but with his contract terminated... I think the Pens should be interested. His next contract, if he remains in the NHL, will be..what? ~$2M?
Could be a free asset that frees up the Pens to trade Brassard...and also plays LW if needed... |

Was thinking about Berglund as well. He was good just a year ago. Could be worth a look. |

Not sure what he'd want. Apparently he left 12 mil on the table to go play elsewhere. |

Pens playing fifth game in seven nights. Gone 3-1 so far. It is going to be a difficult task tonight.
Oleksiak threw the first punch, missed and was off-balance. Wilson hit him three times before he landed the knock out punch. Hardly a one punch fight but definitely one sided.
Going to be a while before we see Oleksiak again. Who is going to step in and play the right side? Like it or not that means Jack Johnson will see more ice time. |

Has anyone else heard of Pearson playing through a hand injury?
Seems odd at this time of year to risk that. |

Would be a nice 3rd/4th line option (maybe pushing Cullen to the bench) . |

I have to mention this about the J.O fight because of all the talk. First off, J.O did not get jumped, suckered, or cheapshot.
He was definitely at a pretty big disadvantage though. Wilson was ready to go, decided the time, and knew if he did it by surprise he would have a huge advantage.
For those of us who have a fighting background, I can't stress enough about the mental factor being ready to go, over being surprised.
Yes J.O. dropped the gloves and took the fight out of necessity. It was clean and allowed (however, I would of liked to seen an instigator since it fit the bill).
What I will say is this... you can never predict the fight outcome, but if J.O and Wilson agreed to drop the gloves and properly squared off, the outcome would of had a much greater chance to end up with Wilson on the short end. I say this because of the fights the J.O has had as a Pen. We will never know for sure, but I can tell you Wilson knew his best chance was to pick a spot to surprise Oleksiak and get it done. There is a code that men use when they fight, and it has been in hockey for years... you give the nod and get it done.
Wilson, although not dirty, in my opinion was a scared little school boy that wanted to get J.O before school was out so he didn't have to square off properly after school. Just my 2 cents, but I do have over 45 fights, so I understand the mentality here.

I don't know how many more sh!tty back handed clearing attempts because he's on his wrong handed side I can stomach from JJ. Makes me sick to my stomach. He fails/F's them up on average 8 to 10 times s a game I think. |

Hey Boyd, all good. Those were real fights, used to get into a lot of street fights, but grew up.
Most of those were Kickboxing and Oyama martial arts. Most have no idea what that is, and is commonly called Kyokushin. (Basically full contact, no gloves or pads. Only real rules were no punching to the face, no grappling, no junk shots. You were allowed to kick and elbow to the head though.)
I just missed out on 3rd in the Canadian championships about 15 years ago, but I did beat the guy in our own dojo |

I like this comment. Basically sums up what I was trying to say last night but way better. Tough to say J.O. got jumped, but likely was caught off guard enough to get clobbered more than he otherwise should have.
I think a lot of this falls on Jim Rutherford. Guys like Wilson should be/need to be fought, but I think its utterly dumb for your GM to morph into Dana White and start promoting a fight. All its gonna do is paint a target on your guy's back and get the other dude super amped up, which is exactly what happened here. |

Agree. Wilson made no attempt to square off w/ JO. He probably should have received the extra 2 for being the instigator. He clearly skated across the ice, with intent, to fight JO. Wilson was ready. JO was not. We'll see what happens March 12th. |

As a fan its a lot less stressful having a guy like JR in charge because he just tells everyone what he wants to do so you don't have to rumor monger (which is the bane of my existence as a sports fan). If Ruth says something, he means it, no ifs ands or butts. However, from an actual conducting of business standpoint its so (frank)ing dumb. Negotiating 101 is to never reveal your intentions when Richardering. It puts you at a total disadvantage. Is it at all shocking that Rutherford overpays in every single one of his trades where his counterpart isn't constrained by cap or NTCs? |

Crazy that you can elbow and kick to the head but not punch the head. What’d you think of the Holloway/Ortega fight? Holloway is a (frank)ing magician man. That dude seamlessly slips in and out of south paw. His combinations are absurd, so is his (frank)ing endurance too. Ortega didn’t back down though but I was shocked he didn’t try to get him on the ground considering his BJJ game is solid but I respect him just standing there and trading blows with one of the best boxers in mma. |

I can say that I fully believe Botts would have the team looking better this season than JR does. That help? |
