So a 4 game sample of Skinner not scoring on line 2 trumps his other 8 years? - sbroads24

all I know is our top line is playing great
jack is playing his best hockey every, driving the bus
and jeff and sam are doing their part flanking him
skinner is exceeding realistic expectations and so is sam - homiedclown
If anyone is complaining about this team right now, I implore them to seek refuge elsewhere. Team is playing much better than expected. Certain players are playing much better expected. We have 4 1st round picks in the next 2 years. An extra 3.8 million was just taken off the books.
Getting close to the good old days. |

and couldn't score on the second line experiment to start the year
people have no problem playing skinner 8 mil, but cringe when they might have to pay reinhart 6 mil in 20 months
it's comical - homiedclown
Reinhart won’t settle for $6M. Nylander just got $6.9M. Reinhart will get between $7.5M-$8M a year thanks to Jack. He’d get $6M a year if he had to drive his own line |

Cant we all just agree that:
Sam is a good player.
He and jack have great chemistry
he is 1/3 is one of the better lines in the nhl right now
his production would be amazing on the second line if he could pull it off - Shadman306

if that happens, what does that have to do with now
the haters are now getting to the point where they will complain about what he could make in 20 months?
what if skinner doesn't sign?

how hard is it to say we have a great top line
an elite center
an all star winger
and a really good winger, skunk, on the other side
once you guys are able to say this, it really all goes away
We have a great top line
An elite, top 5 center
A really good, all-staf winger
And then skunk on the other side
If that f'ing skunk would just live up to expectations that like 80% of the 2nd OA's live up to, well, hell we may have 2 amazing lines by him gettjng Mittsy going.
Afterall, any friggin guy could pkay next to Jack and provide an occasional primary assist
Close enough?
Actually, I really dont have major issues with Sam on 1RW with Jack.
I would really like to see him next to Stats to see if he could help drive that line...not because he was drafted 2OA...but that the Sabres need for their 2nd line to kick in hard soon...and I just see an opportunity for Casey and Sam to develop what Jack and Skins have. |

He was never projected to live up to a 2nd overall pick. Hence why it was considered such a weak draft.

Atm, that is a 50% bust rate in the top 10. Very high compared to most years. Still has time to change, but 2014 was a lousy draft. |

My problem with Sam is that I have this nagging feeling he is going to disappear come playoff time. I hope I’m wrong but my eye test tells me otherwise. - TheHank
Funny, I was going to write something similar.
The reality is it depends on who they play...Laughs, Bolts probably not...Caps, for freakin sure. |

Eichel was as visible as Matthews and Marner in last years playoffs Stamkos is notorious for choking as well. Maybe not Marner but Matthews forsure. |

So, over the past few days, I have been posting about my desire for the Sabres to acquire a top 6 player or two who plays with truculence...alla the Thachuk boys...of that profile player.
The reasoning behind it is that outside Bogo and Rosto on D, there isnt anyone who has a chance of standing up to the rough style that the playoffs inevitably evolve into.
From what I've seen, Pekar plays with an edge...but likely a 4th liner...so that minimizes his effectiveness in that regard.
Not sure who they are, existing and prospects...but I do hope J Botts recognizes the makeup of the team he is building and considers this as an important element. |

I feel like a lot of teams in the Eastern conference have this problem as well. Leafs have nobody, Tampa maybe with Paquette and Callahan but they are 4th liners. Montreal is soft, Florida isn’t heavy. I think Boston and Washington have the truculence. |
