Trade him.

We complained for years that we need some muscle on the back end.
I'd rather move Edler tbh.
better return also.

Nice to see some positivity from Canucks fan base.

Is it the holiday spirit?
Is it the unexpected winning streak?
Is it all because of Pettersson's dynamic play?

who knows.

But welcome aboard team pom pom ya'll.

Most of it is EP, it was back to misery/boring hockey again when he was out injured.

If they keep winning games with the young guys in the top 6 then I can live with that. But they still need to sell at the TDL. Beagle can take the Sutter role, If they don't want to re-sign Edler then they need to ask him to waive, even if it's only for a couple of teams.

I'll admit that I have a bias against defensemen who struggle at passing/skating the puck out of their zone. Can't help it, it's annoying for me to watch, I like attacking/transition hockey.

They don't have to be Karlsson's, but they should at least be able to do what Tanev and Edler do and make a good "first pass" out of the zone onto a teammate's stick.

Sounds like someone is coming around.
if North Nuck shows some love for Guddy, i'd say it was a Xmas miracle.

I would be pretty pleased if they moved Sutter and the Eagle at the TDL

I wish Edler would accept a trade at the TDL and come back to Van in the summer(provided we're out of the playoffs of course) but i know he's too stubborn for that.

Honestly with how he's played the last 2 years i don't mind him sticking around until we can get out D corps sorted out.

He does that sparingly and sucks at everything else. He has been nothing but a bitter disappointment since day one. Trade him.

Agree to disagree Amigo.

I think he was definitely a disappointment early in his tenure here, but I feel injuries played a big part in that.
This year, i've been pleasantly impressed with his play often.
It'd be a mistake to 'sell' now.
Let him continue to play and develop with the team.

I didn't back read much but saw a couple of posts on that last blog about Edler's willingness to waive. If he doesn't''t want waive then I don't have an issue with it, I'll be frustrated by it but I can't be angry at the man. He gave up 1M+ on his last contract for that right, who am I to say that he should give that right up?

Even if they want him back, they need to gain assets for him at the TDL. Too valuable an opportunity to pass it up.

Unfortunately they'll probably need him back next season due to their lack of depth on defense, but it's worth the risk of potentially losing him to another team in free agency.

As for the sentiment of having him play his entire career in a Canucks uniform, screw that. Didn't hurt Linden's legacy here one bit.

Exactly, he is underpaid for what he provides to the team and has provided for a long time. He's earned the right, even if it is annoying.

Agreed.
The fact that Hughes is in the wings helps too.

Move him out for best deal you can get... let one of Uticas d men audition for the rest of the season. If eddy really hates his new situation then he will definatly cone back at a cheaper rate in the summer. Rebuild is all about moving out the 33 yr olds guys ... remeber??? Just because it's Edler is no reason to extend him. He's 33 and declining , wants fat money... good bye good luck nice knowing ya !

This.

(assuming you're talking about EG, not Edler).

- Nucker101

Ya I was for sure. I’m not sure where I am on trading or resigning him, but at least he’s been better and healthier this year

He has all the power though, better to focus on things that are possible. I love the idea, but I don’t think he waives

when has it been reported that Edler wants "fat" money? He is apart of a Union , so he can't realistically just sign for millions less then market value

Does it really need to be reported? Do you think he's leaving 10 mil on the table to resign Here? If he asks a penny over 3 mil I trade his ass . If he won't wave then sit him in the press box for the rest o the season. Sonething will give. If he knows he can't comeback it only hurts him not to be playing for his next contract

wow , 3mil? he plays the most , has the most points from our D , plays PP and PK , it's an insult to offer 3 mil
Ben Freakin Hutton and Guddy will make more than 3 next year
