That 2nd goal. 4 canadian players just stood there. Ouch.

Team Canada this year didnt take the best team. They also dont have any stand out players to take over games. Good players that can put up points but no stand outs.

I am cheering for US and Sweden. We know this years draft pick will be from one or the other.

I think Finland has the best team this year. It will be a fun tournament. I don't think Canada is going to be able to match any of the big 3 in Finland/USA/Sweden though. Dipietro has sh|tty defense in front of him

After watching Kakko last night, I may start believing that someone other then those 2 will be the best player in the draft.

We are basically a top 2 dman, goaltender, and another top 6 winger away from being competitive IMO.

Hughes will step into the top 2 role IMO but will take time.

Demko could be the answer but many questions still exists including Dipietro.

Free Agency might be an option for a top 6 winger to play with Bo but it's looking like it might be a draft pick.

We're getting there albeit slowly.

- LordHumungous

Sorry, we need at least 4 more defensemen, at least 2 more scoring wingers and a bonafide starting goaltender before being competitive again. The current winning streak is nice and unexpected but does not mean that the rebuild is almost over.

I am still holding hope for a draft lotto spot until im disappointed at the draft lotto show. It may be something like getting Pettersson at 5 or Hughes at 7 type player.

Nothing too consistent with the players so far other then 1-2.

Not unless the tank gets back on and/or Benji somehow gains a 1st round pick and turns two into one to get into the top 5.

Personally I'd meet you both in the middle, two top defencemen and a scoring winger to go with a true starting goaltender and this can be a competitive team on a consistent basis.

Pettersson, Boeser and Horvat are already making them fun to watch most nights, if Hughes can find his game at the NHL level, not a guarantee by any means, it's another step in the right direction.

I haven't heard a lot about this years draft . I don't know/think it is too deep.

I don't think we are trading a Sutter for a 22 nd

Draft D
- VANTEL

Depending on where Van is drafting. Its certainly an option. The D depth is lacking still compared to the potential of the forwards.

Signing some good college players this year would be nice

to add to this, I would say we need another top pairing defensive prospect to play alongside Hughes. If you compare the D of Nashville and Tampa and Winnipeg (best teams in the league), we will need a better 2nd pairing than what we have. We 100% need a number 1 bonafide goaltender. I think we need another top line winger. Another 2nd line winger (I think Bo and Leivo can play 2nd line). I would be happy if the skillset of our third line were composed of players like Virtanen/Goldobin. Tampas top 3 forward lines are highly skilled, I wouldn't mind taking a page out of their book in that regard.

Didnt Freidman say that Edler is only worth the 28-31 pick.

26-30 were the picks traded at the deadline last season.

Yup, me too 3 scoring lines with size on each line. AND a couple generational players

I fully appreciate what the Canucks are doing right now, but it truly is hard to imagine the Canucks doing much of anything in the playoffs going up against a team composed of the following top 4 D:

Josi - Ellis
Subban - Ekholm

Morrisey - Trouba
Byfuglien - Myers

Hedman - Strahlman
McDonaugh - Cernak

Not to mention - all of those teams have really good starting goalies.

any team that thinks they will be in a playoff spot may want a top4 dman. you often don't know what pick you are trading at the tdl until the end of the year.

I'm sure there's are teams that will be picking in the low 20's that would give up their 1st for Edler, but would he waive to go to Dallas or Columbus?

It's amazing how Ottawa can pluck defencemen (2) in the middle of the first round and have them turn out so well. Chabot is outstanding and he's 22 years old.

If Edler waives you have to imagine it's for a TB, or a Nashville

He was spit balling saying it wouldn't be a high draft pick like 10-13.

That's just common sense. A team missing the playoffs isn't going to give up a first for a rental.

I know that you know this, I'm not telling, I'm noting...
