Sorry, we need at least 4 more defensemen, at least 2 more scoring wingers and a bonafide starting goaltender before being competitive again. The current winning streak is nice and unexpected but does not mean that the rebuild is almost over.

If your team wants a sniff I think you have to keep one or both of Edler and Tanev. You can't just throw Hughes to the wolves.

Fair point however Edler/Tanev dmen are a dime/dozen whether they are here or not will really make no difference. But I do think one will get moved at TDL and one will stay...depends on the deal.

Every year when we needed a better 4th line, it seemed like an easy fix, must be lots of 4th liners available... and we still couldn't put one together.

I question any sort of easy fix or player that is easily replaceable until they are actually replaced.

Many teams arent rebuilding or have already rebuilt.

lol im not trying to argue whether or not they are replaceable or not. They are NHL calibre defenseman, not challenging that notion. You are stuck between a rock and a hard place, because they are the ones that are worth the most value on the trade market, and yet if you trade them, your team gets notably worse. I think both of them slide into most teams top 4 no problem.

ALSO - there is no such thing as a easy fix in a rebuild. IMO. Whether you do it at a faster rate than what we have done, or you do it a slower rate like some other teams, its never easy.
