I miss the old WHL man. Felt like every game had a line brawl. That was rough, hard, (frank)ing mean hockey played by rambunctious kids who seemed to want a Gordie How Hattrick instead of a normal hattrick.
I remember one with Kamloops vs Portland where there were 10 sets of gloves and sticks on the ice after a fight and somehow there was one fighting major and roughing penalty a side. - Lindenis#1

Anybody know what the F$%k is up with Tryamkin this year? I heard they took his captaincy away and he's been scratched a few times this year.
He's only played 24 out of the 43 games this year and has 2g 4a
last year he had 9g 16a 25pts in 51gms - that's a pretty significant drop off. I believe he led the league in PMs as well - only has 19 this year. what a pu$$ - Brooks_Light

There was a quote from Don Hay in like... 1995 when the Memorial Cup was in QC somewhere. Some French reporter went up to him like "How do you think your team will handle playing in the QMJHL's house of pain?"
Hay basically called it a tickle factory compared to Portland, Seattle, Spokane, etc. and called those real "houses of pain". |

EP is a generational talent in a draft where many on this board was saying there isn’t one. That’s all I’m saying. I think Hughes is that good, still maybe not the best out of the top 5-10 so I hope we pick high - neem55
Franchise player I think... generational? I doubt that... but we'll see when he has more talent around him I guess.

generational being used to describe elite NHL players is becoming a meme at this point.
Apparently every generation has 10 generational players |

If they draft him they should send him to a one of those old correctional schools where they would beat the kids who were left handed until they were right handed. - Lindenis#1

I think Hughes plays very similar to pettersson but is a better all around skater. |

Minus the lethal shot
Some people see him as a Tyson Barrie type player, but hopefully he’s a tier above that |

Every position gets a generational player every 10 years, with some overlap of course. So that's one fantastical generational player 3 out of every 5 years. Not that big of a strech. |

The Tyson Barrie thing is pretty accurate. More reliant on getting a quick shot through the lane than overpowering it.
The way a lot of PKs configure these days, mainly because the Computer Boys have basically figured that you generally want a Dman shooting, the Big Shot isn't as critical as it used to be considering how few of those players are in the league.
Having a guy be Barrie or Justin Schultz is the next best thing. High end lateral movement opening lanes on both sides while still being enough of a shooter teams can't entirely disrespect it.
Especially with Boeser not being a one-timer guy but with EP being one, a LH d can feed that puck into Petey's wheelhouse without having to open up and telegraph the pass. |
