They are pronouncing "Pekar" as "Peck-ash". Makes sense to me. I wouldn't want people calling me "Pecker" either. |

Guys it’s almost a new year we should be spreading positive energy not this black cloud of negative
Sure the Sabres need some help but for the first time in what 6 years ? We’re not out of the playoffs by December - gerbe75pts

Michael, love your blogs as always...you deserve a bigger stage!
However, sometimes I don't agree with you takes, which I find myself disagreeing with respect to your take on Tage in this blog, more specifically as follows ..." and though he skates very well, especially when he gets active, he's still seems to be behind the play a bit. "...
I don't really think he skates all that well, in a straight line yes, but when he forechecks and requires quick turns and change of direction, he becomes off-balance and loses his position, quickly out of the play...same can be said on the backcheck, which is why he seems to be behind the play often.
I have noticed the same when he tries to become fancy and make several moves with the puck on the rush...he loses balance and takes himself out of the play.
He does have some decent puck skills, but seems to take too long to get his shots off. Hopefully he continues to be highly coachable and invests the time to improve his skating...he has good hockey sense, just needs the physical skills to catch up and be able to play faster. - IonSabres
Why the tage hate?
Decent prospect

How about eden native iaffalo, for a decent draft pick?
He's young , so LA may not want to trade him.
But, if they are full rebuild mode, he's gonna help them from being a lottery pick the next few years.

He’s a decent depth guy but he’s nothing more than a third line winger IMO.
I wouldn’t give up a ton for him but he wouldn’t be a bad addition.

Erod makes peanuts and his contract is done at the end of this season.
Pommer is done in 40 games
If we have someone in the system to replace Sobodka next season, waive him and buy him a ticket to Russia.
Okposo is the biggest problem by far.
Cap hit+term+poor production=
And I feel bad for Okposo. I can tell he's working, he just isn't playing with Tavares anymore, but getting paid like he is. |

Good thought.
Not sure if he's a huge upgrade.
Iaffalo has been hot lately though |

"past outcomes don't guarantee future results."
I do like the idea of homegrown talent, but Bailey is a perfect example of how it can also be overrated.

He’s a better version of E-Rod imo.
He’s playing up a line of where he should play. While he’s producing (like ERod did last year) he’s not the permanent solution for the future.
Erod is a 4th liner playing on the 3rd
Iafallo is a 3rd liner playing on the 2nd
I’d take him over E-Rod but I wouldn’t give up a lot to get him. |

Sabres pick last year playing for the Czechs is Pekar #5 - SabreWest
Thanks for that...wasctrying to find (well, my lazy ass thought of looking for it).
I'm pretty excited for Pekar...he could be an awesome agitator with a high motor...hopefully he can pot some points as well! |

I'm sorry, did I make remarks about him as a dispicable person?
No.
I have bigger issues with someone calling an opinjion, backed up with reasons why, as being called Hate. That s a tactic used politically to change the direction of a discussion into a lose lose proposition, typically employed when one is on the wrong end of a debate.
I am simply stating what has become a narrative about Tage that I disagree with.
Plain and simple.
I'm ok being the only one mentioning it.
Jesus Christ, we have seen 3 years of crap about Meyers, Bogo, Armeia, Risto, Sam, and the list goes on.
My post did not provide commentary on him as a person...rather a difference of opion on a particular skillset.
He seems very coachable from the reports who see him everyday. His shortcoming that J pointed out are addressable and ut seems he has the right attitude to do so.
He has wirk to do...it is ok, he's young.

When did bailey score in 4 straight games and counting?
20 points in 37 games in the nhl this season
Age, rfa status and contract are pretty good.
25 and making under a million
Local kid.

I obviously like pommer, but without john jack eichel....
Still 3rd most goals on the team at 9
His leadership and playoff experience is really a huge benefit.
I'm just surprised that ion is targeting tagecakes?
I respect his opinion, I just dont agree |

I'm not saying Tage sucks.
I'm really singling out his skating deficiencies I see vs the running narrative of him being an excellent skater.
Perhaps, as someone pointed out, it is tied to a growth spurt where his control over his body hasn't caught up to his mind yet.
Whatever th creason is, I've seen it and believe without focus it will limit how good he becomes. |

I would imagine they would cut out of this game for the US-Sweden game even if this goes to OT/Shootout, right? |

They must be going with a shorter bench? |

Good post.
I think the really big guys need to grow into their bodies.
Takes longer to develop
I read an article about Phil being really impressed with his practice habits.
They have been really trying to pack the weight onto tage.
He's just burning thru the calories |

I would love nothing more than to have him become a top 6 guy.
I read that too about him beinb very coachable.
He's probably a bit like Josh Allen, needs development and time |
