I’ll credit his success playing with Tarasenko as much as I credit Reinharts success playing with Eichel. He’s been playing with Steen and Perron the past 7-8 games and they started to win once they moved Schenn back up to the top line. But hey let’s judge a trade after 30 games. He lost here in buffalo, now he’s on an underachieving Blues team. I’ll be excited in a few years when that first rounder is playing on our team and ROR is pushing 30 making $7.5M a year and slowing down. By then Thompson could very well be a top 9 winger that scores you 15-20 goals a year too on the cheap.

O’Reilly was paid to be better than good, but rarely performed that way here

O’Reilly is in a better spot now, and the Sabres are better off with the flexibility and future assets.

I acted the same way Fitz did after the Kane trade, difference is the Sabres are a much better team now and actually entertaining to watch

They looked rusty and slow tonight. Not sure why they chose to fly to St. Louis this morning, maybe that had an effect on them.

I agree with this post 100%. Botts is being patient with the transition. It was expected that we contend for that final playoff spot this year but really this team was built to really go for it and contend next year. Thompson is 21 and that Blues first rounder will be 9 years younger then ROR. We can be a perennial playoff team for the next 10+ years and really ROR has a solid 4 years left ? He’s not even worth the $7.5M today never mind in a couple of years.

UPL got the night off. Laaksonen is pretty smooth. My Risto comparison from last night might be off as he isn’t as strong or physical. He’s more like Pilut. I can definitely see him as an NHL regular in 2-3 years.
