"Botterill traded his sixth-round pick to Toronto for the Leafs' choice next year. Maybe if that deal had been with, say, Carolina, nobody would have cared. The GM said he wanted more assets next year. In the wake of the Evander Kane trade, Buffalo currently has nine picks for the 2019 draft in Vancouver."

As dumb as it sounds, rentals have been going very cheaply in recent years.
an extra 6th might (probably not) help get a depth player
Wingels went for a 5th
Mike Rielly went for a 5th

meh... - Sabresfan-365
It’s against a Bruins team without their best D
Without Marchand
And a suspended Backes
If they lose to a team like that who is chasing them in the standings it’s not a good thing. |

There weren't any real expectations coming into the season. If they hang around on TDL, make a move to shore up depth. If not, so be it.
Most people didn't have this team in a playoff spot in september, for a good reason. There's no set of panic moves that changes the what this team is. Its playoff odds (which are still solid) will more or less remain the same. |

Skinner is the focus for now. Botterill doesn't even watch the rest of the Sabres because he's so focused on Skinner |

Yeah, but that doesn't really mean anything when youre in a spot in January.
It isn't like they are playing with house money, they won games, which changed the expectations. They will make moves if they keep losing. Key is not to burn future assets making those moves |

That is the definition of pushing the panic button, which goes back to start of year expectations. can't make that mortgage play this year.
If they can add a cost controlled player with some years left in the tank im all for it, because id be all for it if they were 30th or 3rd. |

That can be any number of things, moving guys to different positions, waiving players, firing a coach, making a hockey trade.
They have kept everything pretty much exactly the same since day 1 outside of bringing up Pilut, and forming the top line |

The minor moves are fine, I dont see them changing the complexion of things all that much anyways.
Everyone knowns where the core struggle is, and that probably doesn't get fixed till July. |

Or by growth it slowly get's better and just needs to be tweaked more than anything.
Woud you do RNH for Risto if offered today? |

I found it peculiar that they had McCabe playing the right side with Dahlin to start the game |

I'm all for trying anything at this point, but if you read about or watch the Amerks, CJ Smith has been the best, most consistent Amerk forward by a country mile. He deserves a shot well before anyone else on that team - sbroads24

why? we are a .500 team aside from that 10-game streak, and if that streak went 5-5, we would be in 10th place, behind the Islanders. We need to start pulling it together. |

I really like Risto's game.
More positives than negatives for sure but sometimes you have to give to get.
I guess what I am saying is, it all depends on our dman depth in the organization before I trade Risto.
I know that we have a few including Pilut, Guhle and I know that there a few more right?
Tough decision but if I am JB, I may make that deal. |
