I'm not head over heels in love with skinner, especially not for 8 years at over 8m aav. This little honeymoon is fun to watch but lets be realistic. He really is a pretty one dimensional player, he is a finisher. Of course you need guys like that but I really don't think teams are going to line up to give him >8mx7years. His passing leaves a lot to be desired and his current shooting percentage isn't sustainable. I'm not hating on him. It is what it is. He is fun to watch in this setting. If you have a chance at a guy of Seguins caliber it's a pretty easy decision for me. - TheHank
I just think it costs too much
from a cap point and what it costs to get him
assuming he can be had in a trade
I prefer something cheaper like schenn, but I don't see anything happening even on this level right now |

I guess we view sheary different
I see the player the pens demoted to the 4th line - homiedclown
No we see the same player. Sheary has always been a 4th line player. Crosby made lemonade out of crap. Skinner scored 24 goals all of last year and already has 26 this year. Skinner has always been a great goal scorer don’t get me wrong, but sure as heck has never scored 50+ like he’ll do this year. I’m sure if Sheary played a full 82 games with Eichel he’d score 25. Pominville even has 9 goals this year for crying out loud. |

so we have a guy who might score 50 goals this season, and replace him with sheary, who the pens themselves demoted to the 4th line for poor play
and the pens had to go out and get kessel to make this work
if your moving skunk and skinner, who is putting up the points for 2 lines?
not sheary or wilson |

If Seguin is actually on the trade block you have to make a play for him IMO before a team like Montreal does.
Eichel and Seguin would be the modern day Crosby and Malkin IMO.

It definitely is. But I don’t understand how this fan base is having trouble fitting in a player whose worst season in the last 5 seasons was 73 points (in 72 games). |

Mitts and Seguin can’t make the 2nd line work ? Skinner wouldn’t eclipse 55 points if he was still in Carolina this year and Reinhart is finally putting a 50+ point season together playing with Eichel. Skinner and Reinhart aren’t as good as you think. It’s amazing what playing with a superstar can do for a player. |

1 more then the other guy currently playing on eichel's line.
Same amount of goals over the last 9 games
Even though he's 36 and hurt
Pommer could give that top line another boost for a few games for crying out loud

That's more of a product of the team he has been playing on, no?
I mean Eichel hasn't played in a single playoff game yet.
If you could keep Casey and Sam and make the trade work you would have a top 6 of
Skinner Eichel Reinhart
Casey Seguin Thompson
That could work |

I am not sure how they are comparative here
You can keep Skinner and still have room for Seguin and even Reinhart

probably losing mitts if you get seguin, and skinner
so if it's reinhart and mitts for seguin, whats left?
and reinhart is pretty much a ppg player with eichel, sheary and wilson will not produce near what skinner and reinhart is doing with jack |

I would rather keep Skinner and Reinhart over adding Seguin alone though if that's what you're implying
The winger depth of this organization is awful

I am confused, because the mass does not take this into account for the first 2 seasons of a skunk picked second overall

yup, best thing right now is to sign skinner, and keep skunk until some prospects (4 first rd picks in next 2 years) is ready
make a play for schenn if they want a center for the short term |
