What’s the consensus on Canucks drafting record on Dmen? |
|
|
|
I think youre right he likes his vets, but also knows that this is still an important draft year fir the rebuild and more importantly this is not a playiff team yet. He also has a excess of forwards. January is a big month, but if were on the outside looking in I would think/hope he sells high on some guys. - neem55
I don't see it being an important draft year at all. I think there is about 5 high end players . I know we are hosting it but that doesn't mean there is high level talent . I hope Benning pulls of a big trade but it is pretty unlikely.
I think the team will pick up a winger this summer in free agency and one in trade. I think they will draft 9 players this year. They will promote Hughes MacEwen and Demko and that will be it. |

From Allen to Hughes, they're all great picks in the top ten. All of them. |

Decent. Hughes Woo Utinen Brassard Brisebois are okay |
|
|
|
Well there was well over 10 at the tdl last year and has already been close to this year. Ill be happy with two trades, just saying. - neem55
Two is reasonable 8 no chance |

Bad/mediocre until proven otherwise by Hughes, Woo, Juolevi, Rathbone, etc.
The one’s in the AHL right now will likely be NHL depth guys at best, easily replaceable. |

I meant the healthy ones in the AHL
Still holding out hope for OJ as a 2nd pairing pp specialist |

No seriously every position is very bad . Who was the best goalie Canucks ever drafted? If your answer is Schneider he has won 55 games in a Canuck uniform.
Edler would have to be our best drafted Dman which is okay but who is number 2?
Sedins and Bure were the best drafted forwards before and now Petey Brock ad Bo but before that it was very slim pickens for 45 years.
Benning has done better in 5 years that the entire history of Canucks drafting. That does not mean I am a Benning fan just giving him credit.
This team was garbage for 40 years

I know, but they aren’t the same type of player as drafted if you know what I mean. Horvats played under JB and his staff longer than he played under MG and his staff. They’ve evolved and changed. I don’t consider them MG guys. - bloatedmosquito
I don't really understand this idea. Sounds like you are talking about coaches and not general managers.
Here's another finger print... Luongo's cap hit with will be an ass print after Lu retires.

Definitely some bad luck on the better looking picks. Luc dies... OJ knees are dying.

That would be awesome. We'll see. If he becomes a backup, he'll drop out I'm sure.

He did an interview last week and said he wants to honor his contract and he knows it is a million dollars a year and he knew it when he signed it.

We're all aware that he will retire with one year remaining because of how he got screwed by management in Vancouver.
Should have traded Schneider a year earlier. Still happy that we got bo, but those couple years after the finals were a poopfest. |

Yep. That's when I was all over Gillis. When you see the window and know they are not built to keep it open long,,, it's time for fans to be impatient. When you are rebuilding... time to be patient. Simple really.
