Top 3 would be better, but what are you going to do? Hard to be upset at players exceeding expectations.

he plays a bit like Quick to me

Put yourself 10 feet out of position so that you can come diving back in and look good making the save?

That’d be a case of a gm doing what’s best for him to the detriment of the team. Best case scenario Edler fits right in and maintains the same level of play that he’s had here. That still might not be enough to push them into the POs.

It would be a disaster of a trade without even considering what would be coming back.

- CubanBuffet

The Oil need to do something.
I actually think Edler and Sutter would be good fits given the teams needs and considering the game Hitch wants to play.
So, it wouldn't just be a pawning off of Vancouver's garbage imo.
Whether they can resign Edler, who knows, but i don't think it's a terrible gamble to make.

I'd want Pulujarvi who is underwhelming prospect at this point.
and a 1st.
I'd make it top 3 protected if that'd seal the deal.

He’s not the right guy to do that, other than drafting Boeser and Pettersson nothing he’s done has helped the club be more competitive in almost five years.

It’s hard to say “nothing”. Pretty much the entire roster has been assembled by him. But we’ll see. He’s going to get the chance to try.

I don’t know what’s so funny? In the past three years the team has been 2nd last, 3rd last and 6th last.

Gaunce with another goal, amazing how he's a near PPG player in the AHL and is an offensive black hole in the NHL.

You mean while we've been rebuilding and getting the draft picks like Pettersson and Hughes?

As I just mentioned, 2nd, 3rd & 6th last in the past three years despite all his moves. They’re only slightly better, although more fun to watch, because of two drafted players and the growth of Horvat.

I know he gets called Dim Jim but do you see him really trading to a team in his own division to make them better and take away one of the three playoff spots and making his team weaker?

I think you're doing a bad job of explaining your position here, mainly due to hyperbole suggesting that he's done absolutely "nothing" other than bring in EP/Brock lol.

I believe that Benning is doing fine laying the foundation here(assuming Hughes and the first round pick this year pans out), but I don't believe he has the necessary skills to take this team from a bubble team or first round exit type off team to contender status down then line.

If Hughes pans out then he's done a good enough job laying down the foundation for the next GM who can hopefully be stingy when it comes to contracts/signings/trades etc and surround the core with a strong supporting cast without going through cap hell before the team has even reached contender status.

No meathead, because of the trades he’s made trying to make the team better and wasting some draft picks doing so. Did you even read what I said? Unbenounced to you, apparently, Benning has been trying to ice a competitive team and failing at it. He’s never been in rebuild mode, you don’t go into a draft after finishing 2nd last with only six picks and four of them are fifth sixth and seventh rounds.

I don’t have time to write a book but yes, through the draft he’s laying down a nice foundation, that said, I was talking about the trades he’s made to make the team more competitive and none of them really have.

It actually is bizarre. Usually a small bit of that AHL offensive ability will translate to the NHL but with Gonch it literally is NADA.

Ugh.
This conversation is boring.

Sven for a 2nd = trade win
Granlund for Shink, trade win
Eddlie Lack for whatever, win.
Burrows for Dahlen, yup.
Hansen for Goldobin. All day.
Pouliot for Pedan, still a win.
Vanek for Motte. I'll take it.
Leipsic for Holm, worth the risk.
Leivo for AHLer. Winner winner. chicken dinner.

Gudbransson and a 5th for McCann, 2nd and 4th rounder.
I still got no problem with that trade.

You lost me at Pouliot but the rest are fair enough. I’d happily trade him for an early 4th right now. Would also trade Gudbranson + 4th for an early 2nd easily lol

Pouliot has done more than Pedan, but i don't think anyone would mind if he was shipped off somewhere else now.

I like Guddy and what he brings to the team.
Maybe Woo can replace him at some point, but not yet.
