all are UFA's at the end of the year and have next to zero NHL impact. It was essentially swapping trash for trash and Benning getting a 6th. What makes it terrible?

i don't know about that. Nilsson has been awful, Archibald could never stay on the Canucks roster, even when they were absolutely trash. Pyatt replaces Archibald. McKenna hopefully plays in Utica with Bachman this year, not re-signed, and we see Bachman/DiPietro in Utica next year, and Benning gets another 6th. Ridding ourselves Nilsson and bringing up Demko is what most in here wanted anyway.

as long as Benning is obtaining picks and not dishing them out like candy, I am happy.

I'm assuming Pyatt was acquired for Utica, a guy that couldn't stay on Ottawa's roster is not someone we should want to see up with the Canucks. I'd rather call up Mac or Gaunce lol.

I agree codes, this looks like a solid move where were replacing Demko with a vet back up and gaining a pick without losing anything. A sixth isnt crazy but Its a start!

Anytime Jimbo manages to not send away the extra draft pick in a trade its a good thing. Also the door is so wide open for Demko. Kid will probably go .880 for the first month but he needs to get up to NHL speed if he's going to play 30 games next year and even give a whiff of being a #1 after that.

Benning also confirmed that Bachman's season is done with a torn Achilles muscle. He will be in the market to acquire an AHL goalie.

Also in regards to freeing up a spot and doing so via a trade when Sutter gets back "we are going to explore all options"

WRONG!

Not sure what your point is actually. Vancouver decided that Demko was ready, opening the spot was a necessity so they moved Nilsson. A much different scenario than TDL desparation. That and Mrazek is better, younger and likely felt to have a higher ceiling.

Regardless, JB did what he needed to do to get Demko on the roster without losing Nilsson for nothing.....
