I think Mitts will be. And Benn or being able to move a good FWD with him will help - sbroads24
Benn might be the perfect addition
*depending on the price
He can play 2C now,
moving Mitts down to 3C
And when Mitts is ready for 2C duty,
He can switch back to LW |

I'm all on board now trying some form of the following:
Sheary - Eichel - Thompson
Skinner - Mittelstadt - Reinhart - kingcong39
I suggested similar the other day.
I don't get why they are setting up 37 to fail |

RNH would be one of the better 2C's for he next couple years while Mitts developes here or in Roch.
In another year or 2 if necessary Mitts is then ready for full time 2C.
Puting up 36 points this year between Lucic and Puljujarvi is quite the feat...he is driving ghat line, not complimenting it.
But whatever. - IonSabres
But why are we giving up any assets for a 2-year stop-gap that will demand the exact contract we want to avoid right now? |

Even if we pick top10...
You’re acting like we will definitely get high impact player
No one picked around 10 in last year’s draft is doing anything yet
Even Mitts, picked 2 years ago is struggling
Heck,
we could just as easily get a Nylander who we are still unsure about 3 years later
Let’s make the playoffs & still have a chance to draft & develop a player picked around 18th into a good one
Even the difference between 8 & 18 isn’t as big sometimes as you’d think
*i haven’t done a ton of research on this draft yet to know where the prospect groupings are though - jdfitz77
You have your opinion, I have mine. I don’t think either of us are wrong. Neither of us will know who is right till 5 years from now. I like our chances of finding a core player in the 10-13 range then I do in the 15-18 range. There could be a few studs that get picked in the latter half of the first round or in the rounds after that. You also never know if your numbers get called in the lottery and a man can dream for a top 3 pick. |

I agree with your earlier post about risto being an offensive defenseman that hits.
Thing is:
He is on pace for 50 points and we lack scoring bigtime
He is leading the league in hits. We lack toughness
He is leading the team in blocked shots
He plays half the game. Dahlin can play half as well
He is probably well desired among gms - Boss34
Your last sentence is dead on.
I view Risto as this era's Dion Phanuef.
Very good when the puck is already in the O-zone, and is a physical player. It's the actual playing of defense and transition game that isn't great.
He's a fine player, just over rated because of a few highlight reel plays a year and padded PP stats.
If we kept him I'm absolutely fine. If we traded him I think we could wind up banking a win |

I have said this exact thing numerous times over the past 2 years
Completely agree. Trade him while his value is highest and his contract is a bargain. |

Let’s have it both ways
Sabres make the playoffs
Win the lotto with the StL pick
*just need them to go on a little run so they miss the playoffs but still make it out of the top10 |

RNH (at the right price) would be a very nice addition for us |

Trade him then, get something back.
You ain't getting Seguin for Risto....need to ship another $4m out that the Stars want.
How, are you fitting in a $9.85m cap hit?
He is an unbelieveable talent no doubt, trouble does seem to follow him though.
As soon as Risto is gone, we'll be back to female doging about our D. |
