Let’s have it both ways
Sabres make the playoffs
Win the lotto with the StL pick
*just need them to go on a little run so they miss the playoffs but still make it out of the top10 - jdfitz77
Blues pick is top 10 protected so they would retain the pick if they win the lottery. |

Trade him then, get something back.
You ain't getting Seguin for Risto....need to ship another $4m out that the Stars want.
How, are you fitting in a $9.85m cap hit?
He is an unbelieveable talent no doubt, trouble does seem to follow him though.
As soon as Risto is gone, we'll be back to female doging about our D. - IonSabres
I agree with this part of Ions post.

Your last sentence is dead on.
I view Risto as this era's Dion Phanuef.
Very good when the puck is already in the O-zone, and is a physical player. It's the actual playing of defense and transition game that isn't great.
He's a fine player, just over rated because of a few highlight reel plays a year and padded PP stats.
If we kept him I'm absolutely fine. If we traded him I think we could wind up banking a win - sbroads24
I really like him.
He's difficult to play against.
Sometimes he's easy to score against.
50 points is pretty irreplaceable on this team though
Especially on the pp |

5.5 for 9.5
Over the next 2 years we lose over 20 million
And that doesn't include Okposo's contract
Go big or go home. Murray made trades for Beta-type players. That's where he messed up. Seguin, trouble or not, is an Alpha-player.
The Stars need a defenseman, we need a forward. They consider it, IMO. |

Pilut can be a PP guy, and Dahlin will be our #1.
It all depends on what he brings back. If it's a legit offensive weapon, it will be a huge W IMO. |

Projecting pilut as a pp guy might be a bit early
Risto would need to fetch something big.
Although risto has been around for alot of losing, at some point maybe its him?
Hope not

Agreed. IMO he's the best trade chip we have that wouldn't decimate our future.
You can sign an average RD to play with Dahlin and play McCabe or Pilut + whoever on the 2nd pair until guys like Laaksonen/Samuelsson/Borgen/Guhle pan out (or don't) |
