Agreed. IMO he's the best trade chip we have that wouldn't decimate our future.
You can sign an average RD to play with Dahlin and play McCabe or Pilut + whoever on the 2nd pair until guys like Laaksonen/Samuelsson/Borgen/Guhle pan out (or don't) - sbroads24
Not many pre-botts guys left
I imagine they are more likely to be moved?
Botts mentioned him as a core guy, with 9,23, McCabe and skinner hopefully.
Things change and gms bs, but it seemed genuine |

He wouldn’t even get served in the joints where I hang. They might seat him in the dining area. Not in the bar, though. |

Projecting pilut as a pp guy might be a bit early
Risto would need to fetch something big.
Although risto has been around for alot of losing, at some point maybe its him?
Hope not - Boss34
I like him in a 3-4 role with his minutes scaled back...have seen an improvement in him when used properly.
I recognize he would bring back the best value in a trade, but RhD are hard to find...and we finallg have a workable D group with replacements coming up when some of the bigger contracts exprire next season, not sure I really want to f with that.
Yes, they need secondary scoring, sign Skinner, focus on dumping a contract or two,
and then shop smartly in FA to plug a hole.

I see both sides of the senario?
Risto is a beast: it would have to be someone really good in return.
Our d would look terrible on paper without risto next year.

Me too, I could argue for or against it..
To your point, it would need to be for a great return, an over payment.
For the first time in awhile, I like the D...with Dahlin, it pushes everyone into a better spot.
Would hate to undo that right now. |

That's true, but if were trading risto, what would we have to give up to get a similar defenseman in return?
I like what risto brings from an entertainment perspective as well.
Physical, end to end rushes, goals for both teams |

1 or 2 a game out of these 8 guys.
Eichel and skinner should average 1 a game themselves.
Defense should be scoring every other game

5.5 for 9.5
Over the next 2 years we lose over 20 million
And that doesn't include Okposo's contract
Go big or go home. Murray made trades for Beta-type players. That's where he messed up. Seguin, trouble or not, is an Alpha-player.
The Stars need a defenseman, we need a forward. They consider it, IMO. - BeadyEyedDouche

Maybe Eichel being out for a game or two isn't a bad thing (if it happens). It could force some guys to step up. Maybe it could even jump start a few guys on to a roll here

This team desperately needs a play making #2 center.. Last game showed how poor we are up the middle with Jack out. Casey will be good (I pray) but is nowhere near ready, maybe in a year or two.. I hope Jbotts is calling all the GM's out there dangling all 3 of our #1 picks and and prospect we have as bait to get some scoring....

Ok, like the optimism, especially on a Jsnuary 2nd morning.
Now take the rose-colored glasses off, lol.
We are talking about the 1 guy who is responsible for about 80% of the team's resurgence....as I know you know.
I'll leave the other 20% to split between the rest of the team.
Skinner and Sam live off of Jack, but give them 5% each, and another 5% to the goaltenders.
I would like to see Casey put on the line between Skinny and Skunk...see what he can deliver there.

I am of the opinion that it's a chicken and egg scenario with centers and wingers. Not sure which is the problem tbh. Outside of the top line, the wingers on the team are not working either. I'm up for a trade too, obviously, but I'm not ready to pin it entirely on the centers

LATEST ON FROLIK
LeBrun also reports player agent Allan Walsh, who represents Calgary Flames winger Michael Frolik, spoke with Flames GM Brad Treliving several times about his client in recent weeks before posting a recent tweet blasting coach Bill Peters for making Frolik a healthy scratch. The winger subsequently returned to the lineup in a top-six role.
Nevertheless, LeBrun suggests this situation could bear watching. If Frolik continues to bounce around the lineup, Walsh could pressure Treliving to move him, if he hasn’t already done so. LeBrun speculates the Flames GM could pursue a third-pairing, left-shot defenseman before the Feb. 25 trade deadline.

Not sure he's the type of player we need. Or.. want. Unless it's Kyle for Frolik. |

I don't care if Jbotts can get a scoring winger or center. This team needs help putting the puck in the net. We are sinking fast..
