yup you are correct.
I'd try to include Gardiner in the deal some how
Gardiner, Bracco and 1st 2019 for pietrangelo
something like that to start ish
this would also depend what kind of $$ pietrangelo would want on an extension. - dmnted
I honestly don’t think he’s going anywhere but yeah I would ask for an established NHL Dman. I’ve seen my kings team diminish there prospect pool for guys like Sekera for 1st and Mckowen or Colin Miller, 1st (13th) and Jones for Lucic. It definitely sucks but Kings were in win mode and unfortunately those players were UFAs and left.
With pietrangelo I’d think you’re looking at minimum 1st (which won’t be very high) top prospect. A roster player and a cap dump so essentially 2 roster players. This would be at deadline.
In the off-season anything can happen. The ask could be higher for a player of his caliber.
Also any team that gets him has 1 year to negotiate and I would think he asks minimum 8-9 million. But hey if it gets the team who trades for him a cup it’s a win.
Do I think the leafs should trade a player like Kapanen for a #1 Dman? absolutely. |

Pietrangelo would definitely be worth it. Liljegren was a late 1st round pick and is easily replaced. Liljegren will never be as good as Pietrangelo.
Pietrangelo has 1 year left on his deal after this year and would be a pretty good candidate to re-sign considering the Leafs are a good young team and he's childhood friends with Tavares so the odds of him walking are lower than your typical rental. - Unholy_Goalie
unlike you, I won't say this 3003478902847923 times.
The Leafs should not acquire Pietrangelo because he will be a FreeAgent after next season- and will be another too-expensive player to retain - particularly if the Leafs give up high end prospects and draft choices.
please don't respond to this message more than 30-40 times.

you are correct ... no one wants Dustin Brown.
no one is suggesting "poopty players", more prospects and picks - I don't think anyone who knows ANYTHING at all about hockey would call Llilgren a poopty player... but go ahead throw internet darts.
Pietrangelo shouldn't be a target for the Leafs because he's an FA after this season - and will need/want north of 8M a year.
the Leafs would be much better targeting a younger player such as Paryako who's cost controlled and has upside and less mileage on him than Pietrangelo.
please continue to share your wisdom with us as to what you would suggest would be necessary to acquire Pietrangelo... and who aren't "poopty players".
- BorjeFan4Ever
Please stop cherry picking. I never said (edit. Wrong player inserted) Liljegren him self was a poopty player (although a kid not in the NHL is hard to gauge) I was talking about brown or any player like him being thrown in a trade to balance out a trade for pietrangelo.
Of course, Parayko would be great on the leafs. Pietrangelo. Parayko. (frank) even muzzin (cheaper) could possibly put them over the top and match up well against a team like TB |

Not too expensive after Marleau retires and/or Nylander is traded.
Definitely would be stupid for the Leafs to pass on Pietrangelo. |

I'm quite aware of it, and both are examples of athletes who have said that they have a vegan diet. |

If pietrangelo gets my team a cup in that 1 year I’d do it hands down. Which he very well could be that player to do it. |

oh... exactly.
all the Leafs have to do before acquiring Pietrangelo is trade Nylander....
that's just about as solid logic as the donkey who suggested last week that the Sharks should offer sheet Marner... all they have to do is reacquire the 2 1st rounders they have traded away....
seems pretty easy to me.

Doesn't mean they're actually vegan, also doesn't mean they can do it for long periods of time. Plenty of athletes have tried it and stopped because it didn't work long term, a pair of words you conveniently (as usual) left out. |

smells like a back-peddle.
would make much more sense to trade Nylander(package) for Paryako(package)... and then use some really poopty players to acquire Muzzin (and in Muzzin's case I mean really poopty or even pooptier draft picks). |

Pietrangelo is very affordable both this year and next year at 6.5. After that, he can be extended when Marleau retires.
It's actually very simple. - Unholy_Goalie
why aren't you working for the Leafs management?
jeez... I keep forgetting you have the funeral home thingy during the day.

Liljegren was a mid-round pick, not a late one. Puck moving RHD of his pedigree are NOT easy to replace.
Why flip a 1st and arguably our best D prospect for a player who is 1.5 years away from UFA? The Leafs are NOT in "win now" mode and they shouldn't be trading future prospects when there are much, much cheaper options to shore up their defence. Do they really need a stud #1 defender to be a contender? They're currently sitting in 2nd place overall without a Petro-type d-man patrolling the blue line.
Once again: stop trading our prospects and 1sts. |

Just my guess but I’m guessing muzzin goes for something like what CAR got for sekera from the kings. (Any team)
Nylander would make sense for Parayko. No argument there |

Chara isn't a vegan, he still eats salmon and eggs. Most "vegan" athletes give it up because it doesn't work long term and end up eating fish and eggs. - Unholy_Goalie
Oh so you’re a nutrition know it all too? That’s really impressive considering all of the other subjects you have been wrong about.

you missed the part a page or so back where the LA dude indicated that Liljegren was poopty... so I'm guessing Unholydorker figured that was good enough reason to just toss him on the heap

Yes he is easy to replace as he would be replaced by Pietrangelo, a legit top pairing RHD in his prime.
17th overall pick. Easily replaced. They already got Sandin last year. They'll get more in the future. Neither one of these two are better or more important than a player like Pietrangelo. It's not even (frank)ing close.

Because Pietrangelo is one of the last pieces the Leafs need to help fix the defense which is especially bad on the right side. Liljegren won't be fixing that problem any time soon and he can be replaced easier than the Leafs can acquire a legit #1 RHD.
The Leafs definitely need Pietrangelo-type to compete with Tampa Bay, who has a much better defensive personnel. And there's good reasons why Pietrangelo would be extended and can fit under the cap once Marleau retires (whether he does that this year or next, Pietrangelo would still fit).
If the price is that low, the Leafs would be complete idiots to pass on it. |

I told myself that this would be the year I would stop responding to trolls on the interwebs. I'm not even a full day in and here I go again... - mjones242
I think troll is thrown around way too much on this site. Most people who call people trolls on HB say it because they disagree with the other person.
Example. Trolling would be that NYI guy coming on here cause he’s pissed off Tavares left. And causing a scene.
Example 2 (not trolling). People making arguments on a certain topic. In this case, why TOR needs pietrangelo/Parayko type player. It’s not trolling because someone disagrees with someone else. |

It’s trolling if you keep repeating the same poop for the sole purpose of causing people to react so you can argue. Every. Single. Day. |
