I don't watch enough (any!) Blues hockey to know if we should trade for Piwterangelo or Parayako. I'll leave that evaluation to Dubas.

I'm just saying that we really could use a RHD stud right now, and giving up Liljegren - a guy who we potentially could only get two years of service from, never on 1st pairing - doesn't seem like too high a price.

We have never been this close in my lifetime. It might be time for a bold move.

It's more than a short term move too. He has 1 year left on his deal and there's good reason for him to stay long term. It'd be similar to McDonagh going to Tampa Bay last year.

Honestly, I'm surprised that I haven't seen an opinion piece from Matteson or Spector claiming this to be a genius underrated move by Chia.

And yeah, I can believe it sadly - all I have to do is look at our fan base and see the few cranks that exist to know that each fan base has a few like that. By and large the mood is definitely good in these parts though!

Yeah, (frank)ing typical that they year that the Leafs are actually good enough to be legitimately considered a contender to win it all, they get stuck in a division with a team that's on its way to possibly breaking the points record in a single season

Trading him by himself, without any other moves, no, probably not.

But if they bring in Pietrangelo, they definitely can't re-sign Gardiner. And given Pietrangelo's skill set includes mobile puck mover, the need to have Gardiner (as a pending UFA who we won't have the money to keep anymore) is less.

So, with Pietrangelo coming in, the idea of moving Gardiner for a more defensively capable defender definitely becomes a possibility. Or, promote Dermott and a deserving Marlie and recover some of the prospects and picks they gave up to get Pietrangelo.

I honestly haven't managed to get a read on Nurse - sometimes he looks awesome, and other times just "okay".

I don't think the Leafs would be interetsed though, as with Rielly, Dermott, Sandin and (maybe) Gards, there's a logjam on the LD. An RD on the other hand would be right in the Leafs' wheelhouse...

No....it’s not that we want to see Nurse go but this is the logic.....Klefbom is our best LHD and only makes 4.1 mil.....Caleb Jones is a LHD on the rise and he is on his ELC......so the logic is if Jones can keep trending up then Nurse is the one we feel most comfortable in letting go via trade because we have to watch the cap thanks to a certain idiot and Nurse will get a raise after next season......Kapanen certainly isn’t trash and helps us in a position we are desperately seeking to upgrade....our natural wingers have scored a total of 4 goals this season and we can use the 2nd in another possible move or just draft someone

I’ll be honest....some of the Oilers fanbase deserve this team......I’ll give you a good example....someone said trading our 1st for Reinhart was ok because he drafted Jones and Bear in the same draft....great logic
