why does this numbskull have Naslund on Pittsburgh??? the guy played like hardly two seasons there and the entire rest of his career in Vancouver... - kaptaan
Should've been Straka in there instead |

How Pit isn't #1 is a travesty. They have TWO generational talents and TWO borderlines in Malkin and Jagr. - Danformo

"How Pit isn't #1 is a travesty. They have TWO generational talents and TWO borderlines in Malkin and Jagr."
Probably because Edmonton managed to have about 4 or 5 on the same team in real life, not some list - Gretzky, Kurri, Messier, Coffey... and I think Fuhr and Glen Anderson are in the HOF - I guess that might be one reason that Edmonton might edge out Pittsburgh ... not to mention 4 Stanley Cups in 5 seasons, and then another one after Gretzky got traded.
Sure I would have gone Montreal as 1st, and I wouldn't have put Chicago that high up there -- I mean there is a team that has all of 6 Stanley Cups and three of those came since 2010 - which means 3 of them came between 1926 and 2009 (plus a stretch of 49 years with nothing ...) - and some pretty awful seasons ... yeh, no ... and what's worse, is this is coming from a never say die Chicago fan... |

You think Lemieux is better than Gretzky? Maybe equal but not better. |

1. This list is different than the previous segmented posts
2. Why go through all the trouble of listing the top 5 players on each team up to and including #9, but then not list the players on the top 8 (and arguably more intriguing) teams? Am I missing something? I don't get it |

The only thing that really stood out at me was NJ being so high. I would have them down further, and I would probably have Buffalo a little higher. Buffalo with Lafontaine, Mogilny, Perrault, Hawerchuk, Robert, Brierre, Turgeon, Gare, Andeychuk, Martin, Eichel, Hasek, Housley, Vanela, Satan, Dahlin, and Ramsey would make a pretty decent team. - malcolmthornton
Colorado at #14 was quite low for me. Four inducted Hall of Famers on that squad. A case could be made for Adam Foote's induction as well. His offensive stats were nothing to write home about and he never made an All Star team. But he is one of the best defensive defenceman of all time. 2 Cups and an Olympic Gold don't hurt either. On top of all that, when it's all said and done Nathan MacKinnon could make it a 5th or 6th Hall of Famer on the Av's top 6 all time roster. Pretty incredible.

Dude you get 5 players, this is supposed to fun. - Drgonzo399
actually ek said depth counted, only list 6 players
then changed the rules and listed 7 players halfway into this
then changed the rules and listed no players for the top 8 teams |

The fix is on. Montreal should have been #1 hands down. This coming from someone who hates the (frank)ing Habs. |

Hesh - Yeah, I’d prolly put Buffalo where Philly is, put Philly where NJ is, and move NJ back to Buffalo’s spot
Of course you would, but your 2 Cups do not equal our 3 CUPS! |

Yeah, yeah, get your digs in
Just lookin at all time rosters. Jersey’s forwards seem lacking. Marty is arguably top 3 all time in net, but I just don’t think they hang with a few others behind them when it comes to scoring. |

Montreal should be first.
No one would top that all-time defense or goaltending. |
|
|
|
If the players in their prime were assembled to play out a season, Edmonton sure looks like #1. While Montreal had the most great players in their times and circumstances, they would have trouble cracking the top five in the above season. |

I concur. Straka gets no love. He was always my second favorite Penguin behind Mario. I wish he'd come back to Pittsburgh for some alumni events. It would be great to see him again. |

Offense too. Some of the other top 10 Eklund "teams" look shinier on the surface, but you could actually assemble a starting roster of HOF players from the Montreal alumnai. |

Montreal Canadiens and/or Detroit Red Wings would have the best defence / goalies by far. Defence always beats offence in the playoffs and their offence weren't too shabby either. |

Not from 67 and on. I don’t think the original 6 should consider players pre-expansion |
