Agreed. How many of our guys are realistically valued by other teams? Honest question. I know we throw scenarios out there all the time but most are unrealistic. "Weise, Lehtera, and AMac" for a quality center is just wishful thinking. More our desire to rid ourselves of them...

I do believe AMac, Gudas, Raffl, Laughton, Leire, Weise, Simmer could be seen as helpful pieces to a contender looking for depth. Simmer can add a spark on the PP. Gudas and Amac are vet depth dmen. Most of our quality players are part of the plan for the future. I don't think Fletch blows it up.

Now, maybe if a strong deal presents itself...

I'd say 6 to 7.

Anyone currently a NHL or AHL player is going to be either protected or available in that draft. I believe the guys who make the AHL or NHL next year for the first time as a pro will be protected.
- dragonoffrost

When you say "protected" do you mean we must protect them and they count against our total, or they are exempt from the draft since they don't have enough years experience?

I apologize. I'm just not well versed in these expansion draft rules.

Firing a coach isn't holding a player accountable. Trading him is. But I guess you don't see it that way so agree to disagree.
- dragonoffrost

It has to start somewhere....a year from now I hope they look back and say....’there are only 7 guys on this team from the Hextall era”. One at a time....this is Fletcher team to build.....you can pick the 7.

Anyone with 2 years professional NHL or AHL experience is eligible to be taken unless they are on the protected list.

I don't think anyone is trading off more than 1 or 2 pieces of this team for picks and mostly that's Simmonds, Raffl, McDonald, Gudas that are those deals. Every deal I've seen Jake mentioned in is a trade for NHL talent.
- dragonoffrost

Well so far this year teams seem hesitant to trade 1st rounders. And player for player deals are usually hard to make especially in season.

If I'm the flyers I look at Tampa and Toronto future cap hell and see if I can get someone with a bad contract maybe this off season. I look at teams like Ottawa and Arizona who cant resign their players and flash Jake around them since he has no movement protection and a lengthy contract and is a good player. Feel like this is the only way we will get some good hockey deals done.

Where’s Mono? We need some juicy prospect scouting so we can get excited about who we may be drafting in the top 5.

If a player has completed 2 seasons in the AHL and/or NHL, he will be eligible to be selected in the expansions draft. Note: The expansion draft is held before July 1st, meaning that a 2021 expansion draft is still part of the 2020-2021 season, meaning that a player who started his North American pro career in the 2019-2020 season or after is exempt. For instance, we didn't have to protect Morin in the Vegas expansion, even though 2016/2017 was his second year because the expansion draft was held during the 2016/2017 season.

For all eligible players, they either have to be protected by the team (there are limits for how many players you can protect based on 2 possible methods) where the expansions team may not select them, or exposed to be selected by the expansion team.

Two completed years. This confuses some people, which is why I wrote my novel above.

I'm so close to just typing something totally ban worthy just to get it off my chest. But I chose not to take the bait far enough to be banned.

But as my earlier post said someone has their precious ones and has locked them up and threw away the key.

So now that the Fletcher/Gordon afterglow has faded away, what do we have?

Still the same old crap.

This team is not good.

Period.

It clearly wasn't the head coach. It clearly wasn't the GM.

It's all on the players.

Time for a real shakeup. Not minor players. A real seismic shakeup.

I'd start floating Voracek, JVR, and Ghost with the intention of at least two of them heading out in short order.

Try to fight me. I don't care. I'm tired of this crap.

Are we at the point where we trade our captain? I love the Ginger Jesus and appreciate everything he brings to the table. G's my guy. BUT, he would bring a huge return that could/should alter the course of the franchise. Just throwing it out there. He has been captain during all of this lack of effort and heart era...

No. He's one of the top scorers (producers) in the league during his tenure. He's doing his part.

I was totally with you until suggesting trading Gostisbehere. I'd have to be blown away to deal him.
