I’m not at all
What I’m saying is that in many cases,
1st round picks don’t work out right away
You usually have to wait years before they make an impact
Pegulaville is acting like these guys we draft the next 2 years will be able to make an impact soon
There’s a decent amount of 1st rounders that NEVER make an impact
I’m saying that if we are waiting for these draft picks to save us...
could be waiting 5years
That’s way too long of a wait for me to be depending on them - jdfitz77
There's always the Leafs. 😉
The fact is, Mitts, Thompson, Olafsson, etc etc etc are rookies, 2nd year players, still AHL players, etc. I don't think Botts is in any rush, and he certainly won't be pressured into making a foolish mistake. Look what the last idiot did to our prospect pool.
Patience really is key here.

I didn’t say they’ve played well
But saying they aren’t NHL wingers is going way too far
Obviously we need someone that can play 2C with them that can drive the play
If they were on the wing with Jack,
they’d be fine
This isn’t the same thing as with Sam last year
Pouliot & Griffith were not NHL wingers,
as evidenced by neither of them playing in the NHL this year - jdfitz77
Okposo wouldn't even get touched if he was making the vet minimum, Sheary would probably get tossed a one year deal worth $1-2M and play in a third or 4th line role. Hardly the kind of talent that would spark a first year rookie. |

You're also asking them to make lemonade out of horse**** - Pegullaville
No I’m not
Mitts & Thompson are both super talented players right?
When they’ve played together they haven’t done anything either
But regardless...
it just goes to show how long it can take for 1st round picks to actually produce in the NHL
It’s actually rare for it to happen sooner than later (unless picked very high) |

Probably both
But it’s also in asking a guy who was playing the wing to move back to Center again
U can’t possibly tell me you’re happy with how he’s played at 3C...
are you?
Even Sbroads admits he’s killing that line offensively
He’s been a BUST,
in the ROLE they’ve played him in
Again...
If he was LW4, I’d have no issue here - jdfitz77
I'm not happy with 90% of our middle 6. But is it Sobotka's fault he's at 3C, Housley's or Botterill's?
Much of our middle 6 is underachieving, but some of them don't belong there in the first place, either, which affects the rest of them. |

Sure
But you’re talking about something different here than Pegs & i were discussing
I was pretty much the only guy here that didn’t think Mitts would come in & have a big season right away
I don’t EXPECT that young players automatically will do so- no matter how talented |

Including Sobatka
Which is why i say he’s been a bust in his role |

Maybe if they made a season more often than every 6 goddamn years he could have. |

Mittelstadt is a play maker who is playing with guys who couldn't score if you dropped them in a brothel with $1M dollars. The irony is that the first goal Okposo scores in months Mittelstadt assisted on it, secondary assist mind you but ill take it at this point. |

I hate lazy analysis that judges players solely on goals and points.
Especially with young players.
Is Dahlin underperforming because he's supposed to be a generational D man but his point totals are low?
The young guys will be fine. Cut the dead weight and add

That’s laughable
I don’t think Sheary of Okposo are good NHL wingers, but they’d be ok with a Center that can help them out
They’ve proven what they are over their careers
Many thought Mitts could be that guy right away, but he hasn’t been
Sheary & Okposo are still the same players they’ve been 20-ish goal scorers,
when playing with a good center
Mitts isn’t one yet
And many thought he’d be the kind of talent that IS “the spark”
Not need wingers to spark him |

Bingo. Replace Okposo, Sheary, Sobotka, Elie, Pominville with guys that can actually play hockey and we’ll be alright. |

Right now Casey Mittelstadt looks more like Luke Adam than anything. - BeadyEyedDouche
Right now we all should be giving him positive energy and cheering him on so he gets more confident and starts helping
Giving a player negative energy only clouds their minds to only question their techniques. and how they play the game and they get more frustrated over time
and that’s how they become average or a bust imo

I don’t see Mitts “playmaking” and setting guys up to score where they’re blowing it
Are you?
And u know Mitts didn’t “playmake” on that Okposo goal
I’m not bashing Mitts
He needs more time, and that’s ok
ALMOST ALL young players do
That’s why I’m not counting on these four 1sts we have coming up to do much for us over the next few seasons
Seems like you’re projecting big things from them |

And I rambled...
I just think Zach deserves some accolades this season.
He's been good, good as this rosters enforcer too.
I respect his game this year.
Looked really good 7 rows up from ice level. - Over50
You need glasses/better glasses.
He's been solid, but Bogo for Kadri would be a steal for the Sabres. You also have to remember Kadri only makes $4.5M. |

One scored 20 with Crosby, the other scored 20 with Tavares. If you expected mitts to be either of those guys then yea you’re bound to be disappointed. Go into the Pens board right now and ask them their thoughts on Sheary being a top 6 forward and they’ll laugh until 2020. Who trades a 26 year old top 6 forward for a conditional 4th round pick lol. Sheary is just a warm body so guys who can actually play, or at least we hope can, will develop properly.

Ok... maybe he isn’t “good”
But saying he isn’t an NHLer is taking the hate too far
He needs to play with a really good Center
That why I’ve been saying to play him with Jack |

Okposo has scored 20 goals 3 times out of 12 years, the last time being at least 2 concussions and 3 years ago
