One scored 20 with Crosby, the other scored 20 with Tavares. If you expected mitts to be either of those guys then yea you’re bound to be disappointed. Go into the Pens board right now and ask them their thoughts on Sheary being a top 6 forward and they’ll laugh until 2020. Who trades a 26 year old top 6 forward for a conditional 4th round pick lol. Sheary is just a warm body so guys who can actually play, or at least we hope can, will develop properly. - Pegullaville
I didn’t expect Mitts to be Crosby or Tavares this year
You do realize that, right?
I was the ONE, warning he might not be “Barzal” right away
That said...
Okposo & Sheary aren’t guys that can carry him
I NEVER said they were
BUT...
saying they aren’t NHLers is going too far
and Mitts has the talent to be producing more |

Okposo has scored 20 goals 3 times out of 12 years, the last time being at least 2 concussions and 3 years ago - jcragcrumple
It’s possible the concussions have ended him playing effectively
I’d like to Okposo with a Center who’s playing well before i completely write him off like everyone else seems to have |

Sirius XM's Alex Marvez reports the Bills fired WRs coach Terry Robiskie.
Robiskie arguably helped Buffalo's receiving corps turn a corner in the second half of the season, getting Robert Foster, Zay Jones, and Isaiah McKenzie involved the moment Kelvin Benjamin and Terrelle Pryor were waived. A respected veteran at his craft, Robiskie should land a gig coaching receivers elsewhere soon. The 64-year-old has been coaching for 36 years.
Yea, it's his fault. |

Mitts could be producing more, Okposo and Sheary wouldn’t even crack the top 6 in Rochester. |

Weird, if anything I think they(outside of Mr."Biscuit Shy of a Tight End") performed well, it's not their fault they suck. And Zay had a mostly nice year after his fighting for Jesus. |

Serious question: what do you think Okposo is at the moment?
Like I just said, 3 seasons of 20 goals, the last of which happened 3 years and 2 concussions ago.
Had the worst +/- of any forward in the league last year. I don't like piling on the guy as he seems very genuine, but what do you think he is? He's not a 20 goal guy, he's not a grinder, not a defensive specialist, not a power forward, not a sniper, not a playmaker. The dude is cooked. Done. |

Maybe you’re right
But this also coincides with him not playing much with Jack anymore
It could be the concussions, or just getting old or whatever
Like i said,
I’d like to see him with a good center before i completely write him off
Until i see him with one,
I frankly don’t know what he is
I only know what he isn’t |

It's both of those those things plus playing with an elite player in his prime.
Incredible that GMTM was fooled by tavares not once with Moulson, but twice with Okposo |

I thought he could be a guy that could bring offence and chip in 15-20 goals. But Mittelstadt isn’t Crosby or Malkin. For a 4th rounder it was worth it to see if he could play hockey. He’s as replaceable as the 4th rounder we gave up. |

Fair enough
I’d still like to see...
Sheary-Jack-Okposo
Skinner-Mitts-Sam
Then for the bottom6
Thompson-E Rod-Pommer
Sobotka/Larsson/Girgs/Wilson
Please.... no more Sobotka at Center in a scoring role though
I just don’t get it?!?! |

Including Sobatka
Which is why i say he’s been a bust in his role - jdfitz77
Ok, but if his "role" isn't one where he'd normally succeed in, how is he a bust? That makes ZERO sense. Put him in a role where he'd actually have a chance at success, and then if he fails, then call him a bust. |

On pace for 16goals in 82 games,
which fit your expectations
But somehow that equals not even “cracking the top6 in Rochester”

3 lines playing 3rd line minutes with varying zone starts. There is 1 scoring line, and a hodgepodge of "hope it works out, we'll monitor their minutes" |

Great, fair enough, but again, why is he there?
Botts hasn't provided Phil a true 2nd line center (please don't say the word, "O'Reilly", I beg you. He had to go. The relationship was over), which would push Mitts and Sobotka down where they belong. Not the player's fault. |

He’s not on a “checking” line
Therefore,
He’s on a line we are looking to get goals from
Sobotka-Larsson-Girgs...
That’s where he belongs
Not centering Thompson or Pommer or Sheary or Okposo
Hell... not a CENTER, period |

Guy has what 7 goals ? All of them were with eichel on the ice. So unless you’re telling Skinner to take a back seat then maybe. Pominville has 9 goals but when he isn’t playing with Eichel he doesn’t look like a guy that’s ever going to score again. |

Never said it was,
But why does it even matter who’s fault it is?
He sucks at 3C, period
And for the record...
since that trade was made i hated Berglund & Sobotka coming here as part of it
So yes, i also blame Botts too
And Housley for putting him at 3C
And him for being doo doo |

He's actually excellent on the dot. This year he is struggling a bit, but normally is way above 50% (I know there's more to playing center than just faceoffs, but he should be an asset in that regard, normally) |

4th liners.
The other 2 are varying degrees of ok - to this point. There are limited options. You're castigating Mitts for not carrying a washed up Okposo who was dragged to 45 and 44 points in his two years here, and Sheary - who should get 15-20 goals. All 3 are playing 3rd line minutes.
We all want them to score more, but is this surprising? No. We're carrying $10m in cap space between Moulson and Okposo. $15+ when we add Pominville. That's where the problem lies. We can't pay wingers that can be of help |
