Sorry for all the Dan Roan fans but starting next season there will be no more Blackhawks games on WGN. NBC Sports Chicago will carry all games. |

Holy poop, I can't believe but I forgot one of the best bands in Sweden, (frank)ing Refused.
A punk band, their "The Shape of Punk to Come" is ground breaking stuff, one of the most innovative punk records I've ever heard. - kwolf68
Fwiw, you also forgot Yngwie Malmsteen... |

The game the Hawks honored Eddie for "Hockey Fights Cancer" night, Roan kept referring to it as "Hockey Fights Canada Night." He said it like three times in a row.
He eventually corrected himself after a commercial break (where I'm sure someone told him), but it was pretty funny |

While My Guitar Gently Weeps is my #2 all time Beatles song after a Day in the Life. George does get overlooked, but he's seriously gifted too. - kwolf68
But I think it was Clapton playing guitar on that Harrison song. (I don’t remember if that was before or after he married George’s ex-wife).
Ringo was probably the best instrumentalist of the Fab Four - like Al Jackson Jr. with the MGs at Stax - and then at Hi Records backing Al Green and Ann Peebles - Ringo kept the Beatles on beat and on point.
Lennon-McCartney were great song writers, and sang together - harmonized together - as well as any brother duo. |

I think it was Clapton, but I think it was before the Layla "incident." I know they made up after that happened though. He played at the concert held for George. |

Miles Wood knocked Jamie Benn out of the game last night. This is turning into a nasty individual rivalry.

Seen Paul a few times. The guy can jam. Really not a Beatles fan though. I prefer the Stones.
I think this tournament raised more questions about the draft then anything else. Even about some Hawks prospects.
Another 7 or so weeks until the TDL. Hopefully it gets a little wild. I feel like enough teams are desperate one way or another. |

Good thing Barney's not here - all that music talk would've resulted in a two year ban for HawkintheD!
For the record (see what I did there?), I'm fine with the music talk even if I knew very little about what was talked about. |

Either NBC paid a lot more money, or WGN's ratings on their games now can't attract enough advertisers to stay in the game.
Sad, but just as well - there are NO Chicago sports broadcast journalists who give a crap and/or know enough about hockey anyway.
There are no new Jim Wests or Vince Lloyds of the world on the horizon.
EDIT: a buddy of mine with friends in the press says the shift in broadcast rights is being prompted by the Cubs' desire to have a YES-like network similar to the Yankmes. YES gets $44.95/month for their "core plan", which means playoffs are extra. They partnered with Sling for a $20/month add-on.
Pay per view TV. Didn't Einhorn already prove that to be a bad model in our market?? |

BTW, on music, that Sound City documentary with Dave Grohl was awesome because it was ultimately about how he is one of the leaders of the return to ANALOG recording.
Something about properly miked rooms with tube amps recording real music to mag tape masters to vinyl records that just cannot be replicated. |

Not sure the press release exactly said that all Bulls and Hawks games would be on NBC Sports Chicago:
While the Cubs are poised to create their own network, NBC Sports Chicago will be the exclusive regional home for all regular-season games, preseason/spring training games and the first round of the postseason for the Bulls and Hawks.
I may be getting too anal here, but WGN is a local station, not a regional network (like WGN America would be) - so I'm not sure they are abandoning completely Dan Roan. |

LOL! Was commenting something similar in a PM to Breadman. Mentioned that the irony of it all was he was often in the thick of posting comments about music if not the ringleader...til he became a Mod.
At that point, posts on music, pop culture, movies, etc. became verboten. |

As far as the Cubs network - the Dodgers have their own network in Southern California - but some sizable percentage of the cable operators haven't picked it up
- meaning some sizable percentage of LA baseball fans can't watch the Dodgers. |

As long as the hockey stays as part of my bundled cable bill, I'm all good, no matter who the provider is. If the Cubs go rogue subscription, they can kiss my backside.
