Didn't take it as such so no worries! Just wanted to chime in with this music talk. Know what you mean about music being a drug. I was a DJ for almost 30 years but again was horrible at genre classification!
- AEL_Fox

All good, you are probably way better than me dude. My wife gives me poop all the time for "classifying" stuff. She is like, just tell me the name of the artist and lets listen to it. I am surely guilty of categorization, which most artists hate because it restricts what they can do.

At one time there was NO categorization. Think about it, the Beatles, Love, Paul Anka, Blue Cheer, The Byrds, Coven, and Black Sabbath were considered "the same thing" in the late 1960s.

The Smith's This Charming Man is seriously good guitar playing. First time I heard it I was like, ahh this suck....second time, I was like I don't wanna hear this....third time I heard it, I was like play that again....the fourth time I was asking to borrow the cassette. Johnny Marr knows his way around a fretboard.
- kwolf68

He does. Also played with Matt Johnson in The The and later with Modest Mouse...both good associations.

Before Johnny Marr, Morrisey's guitar player was Billy Duffy form the Cult in a band called Theatre of Hate.

Ahh I didn't know that. I like Billy Duffy too. I like the Cult.

Johnny Marr is so unique. Another really under-rated UK player is John Squire of Stone Roses. Man, their first album is so incredible.

Sounds like a good comparable. I could see Entwistle, Barratt, and Soderlund forming a 3rd line that can score, hit, and agitate. Just be a complete pain in the ass to play against in more ways than one. One can dream.
- AEL_Fox

I like the thought of this!!........... Soderland is another I saw live at the WJC Summer Showcase. Kid really stood out with his +++speed and his motor even more. Forchecking demon played about 2ft tall.

Daniel Ash from Bauhaus/Love and Rockets is another.

I know Stone Roses had that one big album (their debut). Did they have another?

Not that I know, that first one is killer.

I have. Saw them both do reunion tours. Saw Bauhaus at the Vic and Love and Rockets at Lollapalooza. I like Love and Rockets music better but Bauhaus was a fantastic live show...though I don't think they did Ziggy. Bela Lugosi was an encore IIRC.

Not sure they said that exactly, because Oasis reveres the Beatles. But they said something similar, maybe they were the next Beatles or as good, something asinine.

Oasis had one legitimate song writer in that band, the Beatles had 3 of the greatest in that band. The salary cap broke up the Beatles.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps is my #2 all time Beatles song after a Day in the Life. George does get overlooked, but he's seriously gifted too.

Not an expert, but Isn't Bauhaus a little darker? That's why I liked them I guess. Peter Murphy was the guy I Liked I guess.

He looked great, 2nd on team in shots, had a goal, rewarded with 7 minutes of ice time.

They were definitely darker and considered by many the Godfathers of Goth. Peter Murphy's great and has some great solo stuff too "All Night Long" and "The Scarlet Thing in You" are great tunes that didn't get a ton of airplay.

Love and Rockets was the other three members carrying on without Murphy. They weren't as dark or Goth but had some great songs of their own: "All in My Mind", "No New Tale to Tell", "Express Kundalini", "So Alive", "Motorcycle" to name a few...

Can't go past referencing "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" every time I hear about George writing songs. "Keep in mind, I wrote Taxman"

Side note, big fan of Eleanor Rigby - would have to be a personal favourite, mainly due to an Australian cover of it by a band called Zoot that I heard before the Beatles version. Faster tempo which drew me to it

Something with Pete Best.

I'm with wolf, A day in the life is my favorite too, but agree with little d, George Harrison is my favorite beatle. I love All things must pass, and Ram is a very close second.

BB, Canada outshot em 34-24. Watched the first 2 periods and switched the USA game after that.

Hell yea I root for them, Sveden, Denmark and Switzerland too. ... They're underdogs just cuz of their populations, CZE too.

- Mr Ricochet

I was surprised too, but no Finland outshot the Canadian team 34-24. Just don't check the TSN boxscore, because for some reason they seem to have their own shot totals which don't match the IIHF. Finland having 41 and Canada 31. (Crediting Joki with 8 shots on goal).

The IIHF website almost makes it look like the shots were the other way around, because in the box score they assigned red to Finland and blue to Canada.

According to Quincy Jones they Beatles were all terrible musicians. (frank) that guy. I don't pretend Ringo was Neal Peart, but he had a moxie for the band and the Beatles were absolutely superb song writers.

Only someone who is on crack or has an ax to grind would suggest otherwise about the Beatles.

Man!!! That Pettersson kid is something else. Hattrick tonight puts him at 22 goals and 42 points in his first 37 NHL games. On pace for 45 goals and 86 points. That is with him missing about 7 games earlier due to injury.

I'll admit it, I'm jealous that the Canucks got this guy 5th overall in the draft.
