So Flames had almost 67% possession and gave up 8 high danger scoring chances

Realistic backup options for the Flames right now:

1) Jimmy Howard - he's going back to Det, they were silly enough to say as much, so that price needs to come down
2) Ryan Miller - If Anaheim stumbles
3) Any of the Arizona goalies, especially if they feel good about Hill
4) Curtis McElhinney
5) Robin Lehner (if NY falls out)

If you're willing to eat contracts, Quick and Schneider, if either are still considered an upgrade, could likely be had fairly cheaply

Scary as it sounds, and I don't think it ever happens, Elliot has returned to form in Philly, and with Hart's emergence and Stolarz/Neuvirth also there, betting he could be had for a reasonable price too.

How many times has Smith said after a game...

“There’s a couple I would like back”?

You see the d he plays behind? Lol

Should we be giving Nick Schneider a shot? I wouldn’t mind trying him out, see what he’s got at the NHL level.

I suspect the Leafs and Tampa will be in on a quality back up as well....price might go up based on that alone
- RatedR80

Tampa?! Louie “(frank)ing no good anywhere else” Domingue went like 9-1-1 in Vasilevsky’s absence. Thinks Tampa is more than happy with their backup right now

As my nephew says "brutes". Smith was just facking brutes. In fact I would go on to say that Gillies would have been better in net - and he ain't that good.

Gillies stats are worse in the AHL than Smiths are in the NHL...

There's a wide disparity in their play this year - Elliot has been the better of the two goalies. He has his warts, and like I said, I don't think it ever happens, but there's been no doubt that he's outplayed Smith by a wide margin this year.
