Did I read this right that some on here were upset we traded 0-8 Nilsson and his 2.5 mil contract and AHLArchie for a 2 Utica players and a 6 th rd pick . Oh and we clear a path for Demko whom Bennig said will be called up.
- VANTEL

I have no worries about the trade, but isn't it weird that they'd throw in Archie and not some other AHLer considering how much he means to the team in Utica?

- Bettmanhatesus

Tough one. We ain't getting a Hansen-type player back for Goldy now. Maybe pump&dump until TDL?

Wow .

Excited to see how Demko does. Rueben and I were talking about this yesterday. I knew Nilssons time was up.

From what I hear Goldy is next .

Pyatt's a guy who was an NHLer just a couple years ago. maybe he figures it out and becomes a depth player in some injuries or some other team comes calling.

No one was going to ever ask for Archibald.

Archie has a one way contract 650 K . Nice to have off the books because they will be sending down Schaller or Biega on a one way deal.

This fan base stays true the to narratives of making mountains out of mole hills.

I don't care that Nilsson was traded. I think an Ottawa 6th round pick for a team needing a goalie and getting back a younger still capable Ahl call up player was not enough.

Let's be real, it's a Benning trade. There isn't many very good trades Benning does and if someone else made that trade. We ALL know someone else would have got more.

I'd like to think that JB sent Nilsson to Ottawa because he already has a deal to move Edler to Colorado at the deadline for Ottawa's first. Sort of a tanking by proxy thing where he gets a better draft pick by helping another team lose more often. (While his team still competes for the playoffs minus one high profile pending UFA). Unfortunately I know he's not that clever.

I think the only reason Nilsson got anything was due to the CA injury and a few other goalies getting scooped up. Otherwise he was worth nothing to any GM.

Holy poop, stop posting. This is a moronic post. If you actually thought Nilsson was worth anything, then youre delusional. I'm not exactly sure what you saw in him the past 2 seasons in Vancouver was, but clearly, the guy is AHL calibre at best.

And please do not point to TDL deals, they arent relevant in any landscape other than the TDL.

A 6th rounder, a roster spot and his 2.5 mill off the books is worth more than his actual ability.......thats got to tell you something.....

Trading Nilsson to the Sens to help with their goaltending issues is like giving a glass of water to a drowning man.

Imagine a world where I care what people on the internet think. Ok, now you can do anything you want with that because that's you're world.

Yesterday afternoon I stated on the blog that I heard Nilsson had played his last game as a Canuck and he stormed out of the arena without talking to anyone. When a player does not want to play for you anymore , you take what you can get including a 6 th round pick.

Yeah you have to assume if that's all he got that there wouldn't have even been a trade available otherwise

I’m sure Ian Clark was consulted on Nilsson’s potential and worth before the trade. Clark is supposed to be some kind of goalie guru so if he didn’t see Nilsson’s worth nobody can.

Are you kidding, even Ian Clark would get a 3rd and a 4th at the TDL.......

First Schneider and now Nilsson. The Canucks just give talent away. Will the madness ever end?

Ottawa is grasping. They don't have anyone in the system right now that could even potentially be a number one goalie while CA is out. Also who do they have next season? Might not be Andersen. He could retire. He will be 38 this year and injuries are going to happen. They need something. Nillson is it...Potentially.
