At this point, it is utter ignorance to not recognize just how good LD is in his own right.

Nah I think he is only on pace for 40 goals and 100 points....that’s nothing

I may be snakebitten, but remember when Hemsky and Horcoff where in the top ten. Love drai just wish he was a 7 mill or 6 mill contract. I am not saying hes going to become a Horcof. Just speculation. I believe he got the contract a year early.

It’s not just a one year thing it’s been a few seasons now and remember the playoffs? Some would argue and rightfully so that Drai was the best Oiler....he dominated that Anaheim series

I view fair NHL market value for forwards as 1 million per 10 points scored. Draisaitl is gonna crush that this year, and he’s only 23 years old. Subsequently I have no issues with his contract.

I think that’s a fair assessment....look at Nylander....about a 70 point per season guy who is getting 7 mil a year

I like to factor in overall impact on goal, shot and chance shares, but that's fair.

@schwein and @ratedr80 you both have valid points, I forgot all about the Anaheim series. He was a monster for the playoffs, other than the bathroom lines in rexall, he helped make the playoffs worth while. He is killing it right now. He keeps it up Ill eat crow, but as a fan of a team thats up against the cap. You begin to question every dollar spent.

And now that I look at the scoring leaders theres a lot of paydays coming for some players on some value contracts.

What if the reason that Simmonds is struggling is because he might be on the decline....we already have Lucic and now you want to run the risk of adding Simmonds? I get why people would want him but we don’t need to be taking anymore risks with what little assets we have left in a deal

Well have no trouble signing Tkachuk, but the Leafs are going to have to be careful. Imo both Marner and Mathews are better than Traverse

I’d be shocked if any of those players make markedly less (1/2 mill) than Draisaitl next season.
