Ghost & Jake for Panarin, Boone Jenner, and a First (baring Panarin signs a somewhat reasonable deal). We add a highly skilled player as well as some old school Flyer type with decent numbers. Colombus gets a couple really good players with term.
- ClaudeFather

Columbus doesn't need Gostisbehere considering they get offense from jones and Werenski.

They wouldn't do that deal

I have a hard time understanding why Gostisbehere is kept off of lists like these.
- MJL

To be clear..Im not a fan of moving Ghost , just like I wasn't necessarily a fan of moving Carter when it happened.

I simply left Ghost off because I think short of moving G, Coots and Provy (which unless it's a ridiculous type deal I don't even listen) Ghost gets us the best return.

Again..I do not want to move Ghost but I am realistic that to get you sometimes have to give.

He could, and so could Provorov, Frost, Myers, and Hart.
- jmatchett383

Ghost is really good and his contract makes him even more attractive. We all know this. He is most certainly one of the most attractive targets on the team.

Imho, Provorov is much harder to replace and the others aren't proven NHLers yet.

Since Hak was fired....

Sanheim's ATOI is up from 16:07 to 21:07

MacDOnald's ATOI is down from 18:21 to 17:21

Hagg's ATOI is down from 18:38 to 16:54

Lehtera's ATOI is down from 9:27 to zero

- Feanor

yet somehow they are playing worse.

The follow up question to that is why could he fetch a serious haul? It answers itself.
- MJL

Yep: his skill plus his contract makes him a serious target for trade opportunities. It's a double-edged sword. But as they say, you gotta give to get.

The factor that is always left out in the return could be really good, which is true for any good player, is what you lose.

Might be a little much to give up. Team needs a shakeup though, that's for sure.

Bill, if you're still here, Di Giuseppe was waived and claimed by the Predators. Canes recalled Saku Maenalanen.

Svechnikov - Aho - Teravainen
Ferland - Bishop - Williams
Foegele - Wallmark - Martinook
Maenalanen - Rask - McGinn

Slavin - Pesce
de Haan - Faulk
TVR - Hamilton

Who is going to replace what Ghost (usually) brings? Sanheim doesn't have his shot or elusiveness. Myers may, but he's yet to play a single NHL game.

I'm not saying Ghost is comparable to Provorov, I just think that his skill set is ALMOST as hard as Provorov's to replace. So unless a stupid trade comes along (top-10D, young top-end forward +), hard pass on Ghost being traded.

I still watch the games. But I don't "watch" as hard. I do other things, surf the internet, play video games etc, while the game is on in the background. Ill listen for Jacksons voice to rise or for he crowd to get loud. I dislike this......
- MBFlyerfan

Yeah, half the time, by the start of the 2nd, I'm watching with the sound off and playing my guitar.

So basically, giving up a good young(ish) player to change for change's sake is a good thing?

I think that moving either/both of Simmonds, Voracek is a pretty major change. I'd rather not move a highly-skilled player on a good contract simply because we could get a good haul in return.

But again, if all you want to do is get a good return to change the make-up of the team, then Provorov and Hart should be your top 2 traders.

These to would be moved for me. Simmonds first for obvious reasons but Voracek I would be shopping all the way to the draft.

I think depending on the return you could move those guys and still come out possibly better for next year.

Scoob with all due respect and fondness, saying he could fetch a big return is not an effectve argument for moving Gostisbehere.

Ghost is not a guy that I'd be looking to move, but at this point, sadly, there are very few guys left that I would consider truly untouchable.

It all depends, as always, on what is coming back.

I agree. But, to me, it would have to be a stupid overpayment for me to move Ghost, and it wouldn't be for just futures.
