Who is going to replace what Ghost (usually) brings? Sanheim doesn't have his shot or elusiveness. Myers may, but he's yet to play a single NHL game.

I'm not saying Ghost is comparable to Provorov, I just think that his skill set is ALMOST as hard as Provorov's to replace. So unless a stupid trade comes along (top-10D, young top-end forward +), hard pass on Ghost being traded.

- jmatchett383

I don't know.

I'm just pointing out that Ghost is probably the most attractive trade piece the Flyers have now and it would be silly to not listen to offers.

imho

I agree. But, to me, it would have to be a stupid overpayment for me to move Ghost, and it wouldn't be for just futures.
- jmatchett383

Yeah. To me Gostisbehere would be part of a bigger deal to get a top flight defender or top end sniper. I am not just moving him and getting picks or prospects back.

Kind of like Morin who I don't want to give up on, he brings certain skills that the team just doesn't have readily available.

So basically, giving up a good young(ish) player to change for change's sake is a good thing?
- jmatchett383

Stop. I didn't say that. You know I didn't say that. You also know I don't play those games so don't even go down that road.

All I said is: Ghost is a very attractive trade target, you have to give to get, and change is inevitable.

Will he be traded? I don't know.
Should he be traded? Depends on the return.

Yeah, half the time, by the start of the 2nd, I'm watching with the sound off and playing my guitar.

I'd listen to trade offers on anyone. But that doesn't mean I'd be looking to move on or trade him just because he's an attractive trade piece. I'd have to be blown away, and I'd want players, not picks.

Are you kidding? It would be simple to bench MacDonald and Weise, and replace them with Myers and Aube-Kubel. Myers already has 95 AHL game under his belt, and NAK has 187. They are ready to take the next step.
- Feanor

Aren’t the Phantoms playing well? Why would we bring up any young player in a winning position unless the Flyers desperately need it? Hart is only with the Flyers due to injuries. We sucks, we’re not hurt.

I think that moving either/both of Simmonds, Voracek is a pretty major change.

- jmatchett383

I agree and mentioned Voracek yesterday. I'd rather they trade the wonder-boy JVR than Simmonds but realistically that isn't going to happen.

Scoob with all due respect and fondness, saying he could fetch a big return is not an effectve argument for moving Gostisbehere.
- MJL

Implied in my comment is that the return would improve the overall team. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I'm not a fan of change simply for the sake of change. They have to be smart about it.

This team kind of reminds me of where the Flyers were before they acquired Lindros, at least when it comes to the centers. They had Brind'amour, who was very good, but not a franchise #1 and then Ricci who could function as a #2, but was more suited to be a #3. I think that is where they are now with Coots and Patrick. As much as we talk about goalies, the D and perhaps the need for a true sniper, a true franchise center is, IMO, this teams greatest need.

Outside of the draft, there probably just is no way to get one. Hell, even if you offered Ghost, Patrick, any prospect not named Carter Hart and this year's first, you aren't gonna get a guy like Barkov out of Florida, let alone a Mathews or McDavid.

I don't know if Hughes can be that kind of guy, I haven't seen nearly enough of him to make a judgement, but if he is, pray to whatever Gods or Demons you worship that we get that first overall pick.

Man that signing is looking bad.

Is he the softest power forward in the league?

He may be the softest player in the league, he makes Jordan Weal look like Rick Tocchet.

Of course. I've said it here many times - I generally place zero value on getting picks as part of a return on a trade.*

Bill, if you're still here, Di Giuseppe was waived and claimed by the Predators. Canes recalled Saku Maenalanen.

Svechnikov - Aho - Teravainen
Ferland - Bishop - Williams
Foegele - Wallmark - Martinook
Maenalanen - Rask - McGinn

Slavin - Pesce
de Haan - Faulk
TVR - Hamilton

- BINGO!

*SCREAMS INTO VOID*

From the Canes morning skate:

Brock McGinn - Sebastian Aho - Teuvo Teravainen
Jordan Martinook - Lucas Wallmark - Justin Williams
Andrei Svechnikov - Victor Rask - Micheal Ferland
Warren Foegele - Clark Bishop - Saku Maenalanen

D the same.

Petr Mrazek gets the start.

Picks are fine if you are moving vets at the deadline and are in rebuild/retool mode. But if you are moving guys like Ghost or Jake, you need NHL players, and damn good ones, coming back.

In that potential scenario than why isn't every player on the team in the same boat?

I didn't say they weren't, but nobody is going to come a callin' for any of the usual whipping boys folks want gone.

He shouldn't be in the NHL right now.

Good kid. Very bright future. Should not be riding a bench though.
