Babcocks system is crap and will not work in the playoffs... They were showing highlights yesterday of how our d-men were giving it away because our forwards were ALL BLOWING THE ZONE... all 3 were up at center ice when the puck is in our end! That is peewee and needs to stop. This run and gun needs to stop. I don't care if you have young fast players, you teach them to play d first. Teach them to stay back, block, clog up the zone, and to throw a body check. Then you wait for turnovers and counter attack with your speed...

Looking forward to another 1st round loss...

No, I don't think this is an overreaction. Anyone with any hockey knowledge could see this happening in the game, and yet Babcock, the supposed greatest coach on earth, seemingly refuses to make simple in game changes.

Another example is the PP. Reilly to Marner, Marner to Reilly, Reilly to Marner... over and over again... anyone surprised it is not working? Why? Because the other teams coaches have zeroed in on it... perhaps Babs needs to change it up?

I don't think this is overreaction. I know it is a long season and a loss is just one game. However, this kind of thing seems like a growing trend. If it continues you will not have playoff success... just saying

... our D is weak; our players could play more conservatively, break out as a 5-man unit, but that's not really playing to our strengths at all, which is speed and skill.

I'd like a heavier 3rd or 4th line, I'd like Hainsey down in the depth charts, but you gotta work with what you have.

Leafs 6-3-1 in their last 10, if that's a funk then they'll be just fine

I am going to disagree with the 'playing to your strength idea... In my opinion it is defense that wins championships. When you are gifted offensively like us, that is great and you don't need to worry about scoring. But you do need to focus on playing d first and teaching young guys the proper system. It doesn't matter if you don't have a heavy team. You don't have to be 'heavy' to block shots, get back, clog up the zone, etc. Prime example 1 is Washington. A coaching change with a defense-first philosophy and they win. They basically had the same team and were trying to score their way to a cup and it didn't work...

Honestly, I am simmered down. Just disappointed in a few things that's all: poor coaching, poor decisions around depth goaltending issues, Matthews disappearing act, etc... I understand they are a young group and I don't expect any serious playoff success until they mature, so meh...
