Taking control of your life and health is not an easy task. Especially the older you get. I applaud anyone who manages to make progress. And honestly, the slower the process, the more likely that it's a more permanent change. Took me a long time to realize that.

You look great, btw. The motivation you show every day is an inspiration. Kudos to you.

I know it's partially because he scored a nice goal on the rush last night, but Tage Thompson is a gamer. Not a bad future 2RW. Yup, that's right, top6 forward.

Thanks. It took my mom having a heart attack at 59 and not making it for me to realize I had to make some changes. In many cases, it takes finding a "why" other than just because you're unhappy with how you look because most of the time the issues lie much deeper.

Some days are easier than others, but eating well and getting in exercise has become a habit much like brushing my teeth and showering every day. It's not up for discussion and I feel kind of off all day if I don't.

I've been up and down for the past 10 years, and I find discipline is the biggest hurdle. You obviously wake up every day with your head in the game.

I try. I got in the habit of doing it in the morning before work when the weather got warm last year. I didn't want to have to take the time to workout after work because all I wanted to do was go outside and do something with my friends.

I got out of the habit a few months ago because of all the time off I had from work (wedding, honeymoon, vacation time around the holidays). I made a promise to myself I'd get back into my morning routine when I started back at work this week (so wednesday). It's not the easiest. I'm so not a morning person. But, today was day 3 of getting up at 5:45. It'll gradually get easier as the weeks go on again.

That's his biggest "problem". There are fans that literally think he's useless because he doesn't score goals. These people are not here, but they arise on Sabres facebook, which is an event all in of itself.

He has the ability to score, and typically does when playing with players less apt to shoot, like OReilly. But with Skinner here, he's just concerned about getting Jack and Jeff the puck. Which he can do extremely well.

Reinhart is playing well this season. He does have the habit of give a ways and letting his check go unchecked. Just saying.

I thought Sobotka had his best game in the blue and gold last night. He was active all over the ice. Much more noticeable than any other game, IIMO.

Larsson has been steady and consistent (from a defensive standpoint) all season. His line routinely flips the ice, so I have 0 complaints about him picking up extra time with Eichel out of the lineup.

Rodrigues is what he is. I still think it's ridiculous they put him on the top line last night and I find it even more hilarious that even though Skinner had 2G and Reinhart and 1G and 1A that Rodrigues had 0 points. Glad to see he was contributing on that line.

Sobotka made a perfect pass to thompson on the rush for tage's goal too.

Tage was a beast last night. He looked so strong on his skates compared to the beginning of the season. Good to see he's moving in the right direction.

"Yesterday the club announced that it had assigned recently acquired Nick Schmaltz the injured reserve with (what else?) a lower-body injury.

It could be his big toe. Could be his wiener. You just don't know. "

Yeah, Skinner and Reinhart drove the line no doubt, but go to the beginning of the play on the Reinhart goal and see Rodrigues win the D zone draw (8/10 on faceoffs last night) and get the zone exit. He didn't have a point, but was he bad there? No, he was perfectly fine and the line contributed 3 goals. He's filling in admirably, especially considering he is the lowest-paid Sabre. Too much hate for the guy

Daniel Briere on 2007 free agency:

After the end of the 2007 season, you became a free agent. Sabres fans wanted you here in Buffalo, but it didn’t work out that way. Did you want to stay? How did that situation unfold?

Briere: "I wanted to be in Buffalo, I thought I was going to be in Buffalo for a long time myself. The organization at the time that was there decided to go in a different direction. That was their right. It was tough to swallow at first, but I got lucky being a free agent at the right time. There were a lot of people who were interested in my services and when I started looking at different teams, I thought the Flyers were probably one of the teams that was in the best position to have the most success going forward. And because I was signing a long contract, I wanted to go somewhere where I had a chance to win. That’s how I ended up with the Flyers."

Perfect 2RW. Size, speed and a blazing shot. He was our 2nd best forward behind Skinner yesterday and not just because of the goal, he had multiple chances.

Too much love for a goal scorer with 2 goals on the season.

I'd take angry larry 7 days a week over erod thus far this season

Larsson was on the ice for Skinner's first goal, so he was only out there for 2 of the 3. And I'm not trying to sound like I hate him, just don't think he belongs out there with Reinhart and Skinner.

There's some fun agenda-setting with Erod and Larsson happening here on this board.

On the top line?

And you know that Erod set up Larsson's last goal, right? He's a playmaker

People were sure that Erod was gonna fall on his face, but it didn't happen. He filled in fine and the line did great,so now people are grasping at straws trying to say he failed so they won't be wrong

The line contributed 3 goals. If he was a problem there, that doesn't happen. Larsson changed for Erod late in the shift I think
- jcragcrumple

Larsson was on the ice for 20 seconds before Skinner's goal. So, not really.

Also, Skinner's second goal was legit 100% effort by him. ERod (nor the other 3 Sabres on the ice) did anything to contribute to it.

So really, he may have contributed in some way on 1 of the 3 goals that "his" line produced.

Like I said, I don't hate him. He's perfectly suited to be on the 3rd or 4th line. But let's not kid ourselves. If we were a contender like Tampa, he wouldn't even sniff the lineup. The fact that he was the 1st line center last night just proves how much work this team needs in a lot of ways still.

Yes, I saw the pass and the angry larry top shelf goal.

Thing is: for the past 3 months you have been killing Larsson. Probably 3 years really.

Some of your argument was based on his lack of goal scoring. Even though he was bringing a defensive prowess every shift.

Now erod is a "playmaker" and his 2 goals aren't as important?

Erod needs to score between 10-15 goals a year, no excuses.

The bottom line is he was the right man for the job. The line produced, he went 8-10 on faceoffs and played almost 18 minutes

You were 100% right - erod was all over the score board?

Given the best opportunity of any player this season

He needs to produce. A nice pass once in a while doesn't negate 2 goals on the season. 1/2 way thru the season

Of which I've pointed out he basically had 0 to do with it. You could almost argue they produced DESPITE him.
