There are still 42 -- FORTY-TWO -- games left in this poop season

Let that rattle around in your head a minute

Your going to laugh but would you move van Riemsdyk to Edmonton, who is rumored to want a top 6 winger, and take back Lucic in the deal if you could get back also a pick or prospect?

Like say the return is Lucic and Puljujarvi for van Reimsdyk and Laughton?

no money retained anywhere.

Does it work or is Lucic that far gone? At least we would have one forward who is physical.

- J35Bacher

I really want no part of Lucic, I think he's done. He's got 1 goal and 8 points in 40 games, and he's locked in through 22-23 at 6 million. No thanks!

I disagree with this. I think he is a legit top center for this team.
- J35Bacher

Coots is one of the best two-way centers in the league, no question. But, I have never liked his offensive "potential." We heard about it a lot his first few years. Finally saw it when he was paired with G. I have seen instances where Coots slows the play down and ruins an offensive rush. Watch how G and TK play together, then watch Coots and one of them. Night and day. G is a world-class talent and needs a stronger offensive center if he is going to play wing.

"For this team" as currently constructed, yes, he is our option if G is to play wing. Patrick doesn't seem to wait the top center role any time soon. I think we need to grab someone to center G.

IMHO. For what that's worth:-)

Coots really isn't a number one center on a top team. He's a great #2. I think a legit #1 center may be the biggest need this team has. A guy like that changes everything for the better.

It's so painful to watch them play like this

During the Season That Shall Not Be Named, I remember one sequence of games where a clearly washed-up Petr Nedved was trying to play center, and his legs were just shot. There was nothing left

Watching this year's team is as painful as that, but in a different way -- you know there's more there with this year's team. But you also know that they're just not going to get the job done, just like that horrific team that had no talent

I watch them right now and I know all the reasons why they're struggling, and I just sit there and wonder when in the hell are we/am I going to watch a team that doesn't have to worry about goaltending that can also score that can also skate that also is mentally tough

They feel so far away right now

I think this is the key difference. GMs might take a risk on Kane in their locker room for the playoffs but they will fight each other to have Simmonds leadership.

I expect to get an unconditional 1st regardless if he resigns, plus 2 conditional 2nds... 1 if he resigns and 1 if they make the finals or something like that. I would be happy with that. Get the job done to Edmonton, and tell Manning to take McDavid out in practice alla gudas and we will resign him in the offseason for an extra mil...lols

- youarewrong

The Flyers won't get that much for Simmonds. Expectations are out of whack.

I poured a double last night and just threw my hands in the air when it went to 3-0

I am a fan. I watch them, win or lose

But I won't lie: This year's team just sucks the energy out of me like few Flyers teams have before

No-way list.. Giroux, Provorov, Sanheim, Morin, Hart, Patrick, and anyone listed as a prospect

Probably not but will listen:
Couturier, Konecny, Lindblom

And I would put Ghost on the block and see what I could get back.

- youarewrong

What is the reasoning for looking to trade Gostisbehere?

Giroux had his career season offensively playing the wing with Couturier at center.

Couturier had 70 points last season.

He just put up his best season with Couturier as his center.

Outside of Simmonds and Raffl, I'm not looking to move anyone between now and the deadline. I'd add JVR to the list, but that is just not going to happen during this season so oh well.

Ghost is certainly not a guy I'd want to move, but no one is untouchable. It all depends on the return. If a GM calls and is looking to acquire Ghost and you feel the return improves the Flyers, you make the deal.

The same goes for any player in the organization.

Because I was asked yesterday and it's kind of funny...

Everybody, really. If you only count forwards:

Teravainen hasn't scored in 4 games. SCORED x2
Foegele hasn't scored in 6 games. SCORED
Williams hasn't scored in 7 games. SCORED
Bishop hasn't scored in 8 games.
Ferland hasn't scored in 11 games.
Rask hasn't scored in 14 games.
McGinn hasn't scored in 21 games.
Maenalanen has never scored.

What do you think. Put your GM hat on.

Because I agree. I think you'll maybe see something like conditional 2nd rounder depending on something like him re signing or how far in playoffs they go + maybe a low a level prospect or maybe a youngish 3rd line type roster player.

Hypothetically using Boston, a rumored team I maybe could see something like this if just Simmonds involved:

To Boston: Simmonds

To Philadelphia: Ryan Donato, Conditional 2nd rounder.

Maybe?

I can't believe he was in an actual footrace for the puck with a Flyers D man at one point. Williams is slow as poop.

I'm perfectly fine with that reasoning. Posters are putting lists together and categorizing players. Gostisbehere has struggled this season but if there is a list of untouchables, Gostisbehere belongs on it. Many are badly missing the impact that he can have on the game and for the team. As well as how well he fits the style of play that wins in today's NHL.

depending on the deal no one on this team is untouchable. That term gets thrown around way to easy....Wayne Gretzky got dealt.....Eric Lindros got dealt (the deal to Philly...) . Which player do the Flyers have that fits that mold? There's a price on every guys head. Some prices make it that the player probably wont get traded, but untouchable....(frank) no.

the only reason I wouldn't deal Ghost right now is because your selling for pennies on the dollar, because he's playing like poop.

I'd love to get Donato. It really depends on the market and how many teams are bidding for him. I think they have an outside shot at a first but not more than that.

I'm not a fan of JvR but there are players who get better as the team around him gets better. JvR is one of those players.
