What do you think. Put your GM hat on.
Because I agree. I think you'll maybe see something like conditional 2nd rounder depending on something like him re signing or how far in playoffs they go + maybe a low a level prospect or maybe a youngish 3rd line type roster player.
Hypothetically using Boston, a rumored team I maybe could see something like this if just Simmonds involved:
To Boston: Simmonds
To Philadelphia: Ryan Donato, Conditional 2nd rounder.
Maybe? - J35Bacher
I don't know enough about Donato, to know if that's fair or not....I do know that Boston would be a good fit for Simmonds.

It's not about how he feels, it's about what I've seen. He makes no effort to get back on D, nor does he make any effort to go into the corners and win a puck battle in the O zone. I don't think it's unfair at all. - BiggE
I agree on both sides but here is the thing, when you have a whole team who is tentative, misreading plays, lacks execution and just doesn’t fit together, it is hard to call out just one.
I believe Hex probably sold JVR on we will be better this year but for the term of your contract we will be even better. I am willing to wait for that, I would sell low on JVR, sure the right trade you take it, don’t sell low. Would the conversation be different if Patrick played even close to expectation?
I expect to see better performances over the 2nd half, let’s hope that and some real good hockey trades sets up next year.
Side note, glad Morin hasn’t played, with this crap show, he might have killed someone and been long term suspended |

I'd love to get Donato. It really depends on the market and how many teams are bidding for him. I think they have an outside shot at a first but not more than that. - MJL
I'd love Donato or Danton Heinen if he went to Boston.

He just put up his best season with Couturier as his center. - J35Bacher
everyone has taken a step back this year. all the big guns...Giroux is still answering the bell, but it must be lonely for him...no one else is playing to their level that would be expected....maybe Sanheim...he's coming along nicely. maybe Gudas...he's had some strong stretches...and Laughton has been fairly steady....short list, for a bad team.

I see it as Coots put up his best season with G as his winger. Where was Coots' offense prior to centering G? Don't be fooled, G drove that line and Coots. They compliment each other very well, and on this team, as currently constructed, he is the choice to center G. BUT, we need an upgrade.
I'm not arguing against his numbers and performance these past two seasons with G. I'm just saying that we need another option to center G. |

You stated that Giroux needs a center with more offensive ability than Couturier to play wing. Thats clearly not the case. |

Agree
Could he use a pure sniper on his line? Yeah but whatever line G is on is not the problem on the O SIDE |

it just seems like the minute something goes wrong (scored on) they crack and just unwind. if they score they get on a roll. the more I see this, and its been the case for multiple seasons, the more I want to see some of this core go. not talking the young players. |

you don't make trades for the sake of making moves. they have to make sense for the Flyers. I have no doubt they will look to sell and that time line is going to depend on the teams buying. |

The return the flyers get on Simmonds, jake, coots will be minimal. Last yr my brother in law thought the sabres were going to get a ton for kane. They ended up getting a late 1st and a player who plays in the minors. That 1st only became a 1st because kane resigned with sj.Otherwise it would have been a 2nd. No my brother in law isnt Garth.lol. - flyeredup85
you are mistaken if you think the return for Couturier would be minimal. I personally would not be looking to trade him |

Absolutely you make deals basically for 2 reasons. First, and foremost, you make a deal if you feel the deal improves your club. Secondly, you make a deal to get value for a player who is approaching unrestricted free agency and you have no plans on re-signing that player.
To make a deal, just to make a deal, is asinine.

In no particular order, the biggest needs on this team are:
A legit 3C who can kill penalties to take some of the work off G. As well as defensive zone face offs. Hell even take some of them away from Couts.
A sniper
An impactful veteran Dman (wishful thinking ridding AMac)

G would put up points with Gritty at center. I'm saying G could benefit even more at wing with a more offensive-minded/skilled center than Coots. I think, as a line or pair, only Colorado (MacKinnon and Rantenan) had more points last season (maybe?). Look at the point leaders for this season. Some strong pairs out there.
Of course, this is not the issue hurting this team right now. Just an off-season wish for me. |

Yep.
There was exactly zero give-a-poop on that team for almost half the game. |

I stopped watching at 2-0, because I had 2 episodes of Vikings to catch up on that seemed much more interesting.
However, there was 1 play that summed up the game for me. It was in the first, and I think it was maybe Konecny passing to a guy in the slot. Instead of going for the pass that was slightly behind him, the player just gave no effort and glided stiffly upright toward the boards while the play went the other way.
There's no way that happens on a contending team. |

It’s getting really hard to give a (frank) about this team anymore, and that’s coming from a fan whose earliest memories of the team include names like Doug Favell, Andre Lacroix and Jean-Guy Gendron. - BiggE

At one point during last night's game, they were playing "I Wanna Be Sedated" in the arena. Honestly, that's about the only way to watch this team these days.
