We'd be banking heavily on Jones succeeding though.

- EdmHockeyMan

Well Nurse is under contract for another season so we have time to find out what we have in Jones before exploring a deal

Kapanen ain’t enough. And I don’t want throw ins

Nylander or I’d look elsewhere

That would be the case, however, I'm assuming that the deal Sean mentioned is a deal we make now (hence Talbot as a rental).

Therefore we'd be banking on Jones taking the reigns as a top 4 defender relatively quickly.

What if we could snag Brown as well? So Kapanen & Brown for nurse/Talbot/(Kassian or a pick)?

Modify it to your liking.

I'd accept that deal. Boosts our top 6 and depth.

Look at Trudeau when he named his cabinet ministers... they were all selected based on making a diverse candidate rather than merit.

And look at where that's got us!

If I’m upper management I’m not allowing Chia to make a major trade that’s going to kill us any more possibly

Only problem with Nylander is we would have to get rid of some money just to make it work cap wise

Moving Larsson is not even a consideration for me unless it's for Marner, which obviously wouldn't happen. He's too valuable to this team and it's ability to compete in the future.
- MaximumBone

Are you kidding me ? The guy can’t move the puck out of the zone .Larsson for Kapanen and first ...hopefully they are as bullish as you are

I wonder what Vegas would want for Pirri or possibly Carr
- RatedR80

Think we could get Pirri for futures, like a good draft pick, and a prospect? Samourkov and a 3rd?

Moving Larsson with out having something to replace him would decimate the back end even more.

Good question....I don’t know what I would offer for him....I just see a forward that could possibly help with our glaring weakness at the moment

He's not exactly proven, but he's come out the gate strong. On the otherside, you would have to be pretty short sided to send away a player with potential like that only a handfull of games into the big leagues.

Pretty minimal risk at 650k for the rest of the season....I wouldn’t sell the future for him but I would give him the chance to be an everyday player on our roster

Dump some deadweight.
I don’t feel more middling talent moves the needle here. Kap is good, but not good enough.

If ur gonna trade nurse, who still has some perception of reasonably high value / high ceiling, (which is certainly over stated from what we know of him) u gotta go big imo. Or just keep him

The kap return for Larsson doesn’t help enough to offset the loss either

But of course the leafs would hang up the phone if marner was mentioned.

There’s no deal to be made for our defenders if it ain’t nylander

I would just hold onto him for now to see if Jones slips on a banana peel....at least if he slips we have Nurse still....we trade Nurse tomorrow and Jones starts to decline.....big step backwards

I'd love to give him a chance in the Oilers silks, you think Vegas would let him walk with his showing so far.

I believe he is a UFA after this season so if Vegas doesn’t figure him into thier long term plans he might just walk and all Vegas does is send him back down no matter how good he has been....maybe that’s a red flag but I’m willing to take that chance for a few months

He is a 650000 dollar option that could pan out, but to get him and not do something stupid and overpay on unproven assets. He's a better gamble than Reinhart, but not worth a yammo or pool party. Maybe Bear straight across, or Kemp and a 3rd or 2nd

Unfortunately he is rather expensive nowadays....Regardless of what we do, we need to move the boat anchors contract...If thats possible,i would rather try sign/ trade for Stone

He's our best defender, separates his man from the puck at an elite level and consistently shows up ~50% across most significant metrics despite facing the toughest opposition on the team. He's our 2nd best Dman and it's not close.

I’m fine taking Nylander back ,but now you have a cap problem . I think Larsson is overrated .I would be very happy with Kapanen and say Dermott . Take puju and our first and see if another defencmen is out there
