Got to love those TSN highlights.
"Two of the brightest young centers in the league get tangled up"
Sorry but no. A really bright center gets tangled up with some guy is more fitting. |

Is anyone else laughing that EP40 won't play tomorrow and ruin HNIC showcasing plans - VANTEL
If anything, I thought you guys would be disappointed. You'd hear some leaf fans complain about how how HNIC won't shut up about EP. |

It will be more fun listening to Kyper say "That's a shame "

I was just thinking they might want to reward Dipietro for his progress by giving him a taste of the next step. Sort of a vote of confidence in spite of the early elimination from the WJC's. His junior team probably has a contingency in place for at least the next week or so anyway, so it's convenient timing from that perspective.
I just wasn't sure about the contract restrictions preventing this. It seems more likely he could be called up to the NHL rather than the AHL on an emergency basis. The expansion draft exemption implications are another issue that might make it impractical. - YeOldTimer
I think its better to just let the kid get back into normal life. Give him the week to move on and find his regular day to day again.
Usually the only way to get an emergency call up to fly is when the team legitimately cannot get a player from a lower league in time, but can get someone from major junior. It doesn't happen in the AHL due to the differences in roster contruction/space.
The only way Dipietro sees some pro games this year are at the end of the year in the AHL or if the Canucks can't get whoever their new #4 goalie, if they even have one, is out of Utica in time but are able to get Dipietro on a flight to wherever they are.
So, say Markstrom goes down day to day with something. They could call up Dipietro on an emergency basis if they didn't have a signed goalie in the AHL. But it would only be allowed for the minimum time necessary and the likelihood he'd get a minute of playing time is pretty low. |

DiPietro: I'm super excited for Thatcher Demko. He texted me after the Finland game and expressed that he's been there and has felt that. He said congratulations on a great tournament. Super exciting for him and he's a good friend of mine and see this happen is awesome.

EP won't be. It would have raised his profile on a national scale and could cost him money on missed endorsement opportunities. |

I think Sven was an emergency call up for the Flames and played a bunch of games. |

I think DiPietro's new CHL team is expected to have a good shot to make it to the memorial cup this year, and the Comets don't look like they'll be making much of a playoff run without Demko. Not likely he'll be able to get into any AHL games later in the season.
Anyway, it was just a thought that raised the question of whether it was even a possibility. |

Sure, but HNIC exposure is what gets the sheep and the lemmings excited though. That's where the real money is. |

Quinn Hughes is probably gonna play out his 4 years at Michigan and sign as a FA wherever his brother plays. No way he wants to come to a team who will turn their backs on him whenever the going gets tough. |
