Canucks are a .500 team with or without EP this season. Well, because of this game we are 1 game below .500 without him. But the large sample size is .500 more or less.
Team has been shutout 4 of last 7 games. EP has been out 1.5 games.
Team was 1st or 2nd in spread out scoring at the xmas break. We had 2 players who hadnt scored at that point.
Petey is the best player but there has been a poop load of team effort and team contribution this season. Not to kill the narrative... just throwing some light on it.

I do not share your optimism. But your perspective is pleasant and comforting to the blind. |

I dont have much against him tbh. Pettersson is going to face much worse throughout his career than a 170lb fin. |

Oh I read it. But an 82 game season demands consistency. Winning a couple of games against top tier teams doesn’t necessarily indicate progress towards competitiveness.
The team that was iced tonight was god awful. One or two key pieces missing and it turns into muck. I feel a bit sorry for TG because he can’t juggle the pieces to compensate for the inevitable injuries.
The team struggles to make adjustments and that to me indicates just how far this team is from where it needs to be. |

That was a stinker of a lineup.
The sad thing is we were missing the top offensive player and a good 3rd liner and that is it.
Hopefully we start to dump a few of these players and start trying a couple from Utica.
Zacmac, Evmac Brisebois(maybe) and Gaudette(After a few more games) all need a shot at the big team, while Pouliot, Granlund and Sutter, even though I don't mind him, need to be gone. |

Saturday night in TO and the team didn’t even fight hard enough to be penalized (I didn’t watch the last 10 minutes so might be wrong). WTF? If you are going to play a team with superior skill you got to find ways to be competitive.
We weren’t gonna win but at least have a little aggression in your game. - bloatedmosquito
lol no doubt.
It must be contagious around the league. McDavid was blatantly elbowed in the face by Doughty with ZERO response from Kassian, Lucic or Nurse. Is this turning into the league of Pussies? |

I’m not really talking about retaliation, more like finish your check aggression. If you are finishing checks at some point in the game you are going to get a penalty. How about slowing some of the speedsters down through the neutral zone. You’re bound to get a penalty or two with stick work, clutch and grab.
Playing the game with a bit of intensity creates penalties. You know when a team is sleepwalking when they don’t have to kill off a penalty in the game. |

Markstrom back to normal...Petey out...Defense looking normal...I just wanted to see 5 spots up in the standings this year and Petey win the Calder. Don't give a sh!t about much else. |
