Markstrom back to normal...Petey out...Defense looking normal...I just wanted to see 5 spots up in the standings this year and Petey win the Calder. Don't give a sh!t about much else. - LordHumungous
Agreed, but a bit of fresh blood on the blue line (and throughout the lineup) would be nice too. |

I’m not really talking about retaliation, more like finish your check aggression. If you are finishing checks at some point in the game you are going to get a penalty. How about slowing some of the speedsters down through the neutral zone. You’re bound to get a penalty or two with stick work, clutch and grab.
Playing the game with a bit of intensity creates penalties. You know when a team is sleepwalking when they don’t have to kill off a penalty in the game. - bloatedmosquito
I hear what you are saying...but I'm talking next level aggression. Twice liberties have been take with Petey and nothing done...but Green is 'really upset' so that helps.
But I do agree in a 5-0 game vs TO make something happen even if it's a late fight or something. |

But seriously, do you want me to post fantasies or predictions? |

Nighthawk use to ask me that question and it drove me fuken crazy .
If you are going to move Edler and replace his minutes who can do it and how much? Gardiner is a bit of a downgrade and will cost more . After that there is no LHD that can .
You can spend 11 mil on Karlsson and hope he works.
Anyone can replace Pouliot but I think that is where you have to trust is your system and development.
Hughes will be an addition and eventually OJ might but in the meantime it is Hutton or McEneny to play bottom pairing.
Woo hopefully will be ready 2-3 years.
I think changes will be made from TDL to the start of next season so it is wait and see.

Lol. That question kills me because I’m not up to date on current names and available market. I haven’t put the time in that’s needed to be fully knowledgeable.
I totally agree with your assessment of who’s even remotely available in the minors. That’s one route for replacement.
The second would be a deal similar to the Leivo deal. Switch out the lesser parts for slightly better lesser parts. Nothing drastic just tinkering with hopes of finding a gem. |

The third is the only period I saw, but he looked pretty damn good. The kid can skate. |

He probably played like 12 mins in third, and like 11 of those were spent rushing the puck or in the offensive zone. |

I’m all for upgrading at any position, but it’s not as simple as that. If you move Edler for a late first plus whatever, that’s fine, but optimistically that prospect won’t be ready to contribute for three years, if not more, and may or may not be able to contribute to the same level as Edler. Does that fit the team’s timeline? Maybe. At the beginning of the season I would have said for sure, but they’ve shown that they are a lot closer than I thought.
You could target a team’s prospects that are closer to ready, but that hasn’t been strength of the Canucks.
To be honest I don’t know what the hell they should do. |

I forget who said it but the more of what I see, the better I feel about this entire group management included. I know it wasn't Lefty.
I do think there will be one significant trade soon and it might involve OJ or Jake or both .
I do expect Sutter to be traded but the rest if any will be small.
Canucks may want to go after Duchene this summer or someone else. The options are growing but I don't think they will rip the team apart to bare bones and leave the young guys by themselves. |

lol no doubt.
It must be contagious around the league. McDavid was blatantly elbowed in the face by Doughty with ZERO response from Kassian, Lucic or Nurse. Is this turning into the league of Pussies? - LordHumungous
Speaking of puss!s,
Did you know that that term is based off of this word?
pusillanimous
pu·sil·lan·i·mous | \ˌpyü-sə-ˈla-nə-məs also ˌpyü-zə- \
Definition of pusillanimous
: lacking courage and resolution : marked by contemptible timidity
Our pusillanimous players need to step up. |

Oh I read it. But an 82 game season demands consistency. Winning a couple of games against top tier teams doesn’t necessarily indicate progress towards competitiveness.
The team that was iced tonight was god awful. One or two key pieces missing and it turns into muck. I feel a bit sorry for TG because he can’t juggle the pieces to compensate for the inevitable injuries.
The team struggles to make adjustments and that to me indicates just how far this team is from where it needs to be. - bloatedmosquito
I said the not reading comment because I pointed out the Canucks have scoring issues even with EP in the line up... how that translates into optimism and all that doesn't make much sense. This team is sliding regardless of EP's injury.
I just posted a few facts is all. There wasnt actually an opinion in there. Just stuff that puts cracks in narratives. |

I was getting an optimistic vibe from you which threw me off a bit to be honest. With comments like they have been competitive against top teams numerous times, contribution throughout the lineup, spread out scoring, etc it seemed as though you were saying I was being overly pessimistic about the current situation.
I just don’t see that balance that you statistically show. Not only do you see a lack of skill when petey goes down, you see an entire shift in team personality/attitude. |

Facts is all. Thats why they didnt all point in one direction. It was read all in one direction.
It seems like its been happening for a few games. Like I said, 4 shut outs in the last 7 games... Petey was in for more than half that. Our spread out scoring has stopped. Horvat has crashed. There is a lot of everything in those posts. Thats hardly pom pom material.

Edler is not a worry , he can still skate , has chemistry with EP , and over the last while going back to last half of last season he is playing at a 50+ point D-man over 82 games . we will not be able to replace that on the cheap
i do see a need for more toughness through out the line-up , not a goon but , grumpy , moody guys that don't let little pokes and prods go unanswered . constant facewashing , pops in the nose , never let up attitude win or lose .
if we can't beat em , beat them up attitude |

TO is a regular season team , entertaining and flashy , wait until the playoffs and watch their D get worked
the Nucks are an up and coming team , prone to inconsistent play , but i see something to build around , and that's encouraging |

its a long season, ups and downs happen to every team, young teams have more downs than ups. |

Vantel wanted to draft him real bad last year. Talked about him for months, about how badly we needed more C depth |

Juolevi was supposed to make the team around now, Hughes will be here next year. It looks like MDZ will be gone before next season, probably one of Pouliot and Hutton as well. It sucks that we got set back on OJ but it's coming soon. |

If they resign Edler, count on not having room for one of our young left D.
