Part of me wonders if conditioning is still an issue
- Sabresfan-365

Dude, he's a 20-year old man

Has been playing hockey for a bare minimum of several years

Under no circumstances should "conditioning" be an issue at this point. If it is conditioning, then I question the player's mental strength and investment in the game.

That puck has not laid flat the entire game wtf
- BeadyEyedDouche

The NHL really needs to take measures to ensure quality ice in every arena instead of often allowing home ice condition advantages.

It shouldn't be but...

It was an issue in the USHL and he bombed his vo2 max test at the combine. There are times where he's still caught making some lazy plays, the kind you make when you've gotten tired a bit too quickly.

The Bruins' strength has been their depth scoring for years now
- BeadyEyedDouche

That Acciari line got the first goal and OT winner last Saturday in Buffalo, got the game winner in the winter classic and the goal tonight. WTF? F these guys. Our boys need to step up.

Idk, I don't see him making lazy plays because of his endurance, I see him making lazy plays because of confidence.

He absolutely refuses to shoot the puck at this point. Keeps dropping the puck back. That doesn't work at the NHL-level like it does in lower-leagues.

He needs to learn the big boy game, and he needs to do it down in the AHL, IMO.

Not excusing the sometimes piss poor play from the sabres, but how the (frank) did we not earn a single powerplay on any of the shenanigans?

It was an issue in the USHL?

Even Risto, who is a fitness monster, said there was a giant difference in his physical conditioning from his rookie year to his second year.

He's playing with Elie and Pominville. Play him with Sheary and Thompson

I don't doubt his confidence is shot, but occasionally i see body language in certain plays that looks like a guy who is just gassed.

Not so much conditioning but i worried about his skating early in the season. Then about 10 games in I really thought he looked quicker. Agree that he has slowed a bit lately. Maybe fatigue?

The Bruins have been one of the most consistent teams over the last decade. It's not surprising.

Undoubtedly. Its just a theory on my part, because it had been an issue before.

entire team came out slow...as for mitts, at 20 yrs. old his body still has some maturing to do...also of note, he played 34 games last season in college and he's on his 42nd this season, big difference as is the level of competition...i'd be surprised if he was sent down...sent to the pressbox for a game, maybe, but Rochester, I don't think so

He has played with some combination of them as his wingers all year and looks lost.

I don't think it's conditioning.

Maybe but I don't think his issue is making a lazy play when he's gassed

It's the constant drop-passes on a fresh line-change that tell me he has no confidence

I just think he is hurting the team more than helping them right now. Move him to the wing, sit him a game, do something, but at this point, maybe playing 15+ a night in Rochester would help his game more.

if they aren't going to send Casey down to Rochester they should put him on the wing for a little bit.... I just don't understand how they are trying to bring Casey along, its like they have no plan whatsoever.

Mittelstadt looks a step slower. Idk if he put on too much weight in the offseason but being a step slower is affecting his decision making. Quality of linemates isn't helping much either but he can definitely be better himself.

the plan was to give him protected minutes in a lesser role...that went to poop when Berglund and Sobotka sucked more than they anticipated

think it goes beyond that no matter what the issue is. If nothing else, he really needs to start shooting more. That alone will help create more chances than hes creating right now.
