Arizona has lots of space....find a team that wants a cheaper Lucic and with some creativity the 3 clubs could make it work
- RatedR80

Only teams I see Lucic waiving his NMC for is LA, SJ, NYR, Boston, and possibly Vancouver. So where do we go from here?

It really is true...best part is we can just blame Chia for that one it’s become an Oiler tradition

Boston might want to add a cheaper Lucic....he has had lots of success with guys there and maybe that’s what he needs.....can’t see LA doing it nor SJ.....best bet from your list is Boston

Boston gets - Lucic (2m retained), Yamo, Spooner (has had success in Boston before)
Edmonton gets - Nyquist, Nielsen (1-2m retained), Frk
Detroit gets - EDM 2019 First, Donato, Wagner, Kassian

I'd like to pry Debrusk from Boston, but that would mean switching up Yamo with Pulj. Even that may not be enough.

All of the teams would/should still be above the cap.

I leave it to you guys to try and modify this to your liking.

Be very suprized if Boston gives up Debrusk. He’s prototypical Bruin player.

I’m sort of new to this site and also don’t follow Oilers that much. I did read that Chia wanted to “change the culture” on the roster to support McDavid. If the Blackhawks go full rebuild and blow up everything, while trying to get younger....just seeing what opinions your fan base would have. This is all just hypothetical and would mean players would accept NMC trade.

To Edmonton: C Toews, LW Saad, D Seabrook (or swap D Keith for LW Saad) plus some prospects/picks

To Chicago: LW Lucic, C Spooner, C Draisaitl, D Klefbom, RW Puljujarvi

Chicago would get younger in rebuild years. Edmonton would get rid of Lucic/Spooner contracts and get veteran championship players. Toews & Saad on 2nd line against other teams top lines and RNH slides up to LW with McDavid.

Anyway, I just thought I would see what Oiler fans’ opinions were on what they needed and if Blackhawks were “open for business”.

So this trade says to me improvement for the Hawks while making us worse....hard pass.....we already did you a favour with Manning

2019 pick is another long losing streak away from being a top 5 pick....so one has to decide if that alone is worth it

I agree.

He had a great rookie year and this current season has been a good one too.

Would love to have him on this team, but as you said, would be surprised if Boston actually lets go of him.

LA is old enough
SJ has enough old guys
NYR starting a retool not a chance they’d want him
Boston might be a possibility but what does he really add now? He’s lost his scoring touch even McDavid can’t help him find it. He’s slow in a young mans game. Fight? Not much of that going on in the playoffs. He’s slightly smarter than Kassian. His contract sucks although I’m sure there’s a team that could afford to take him. But that’s going to cost more youth and picks. Put him on the 4th line, limit his ice time, and hope his wife demands a trade out of Edmonton.

Realistically the only way he goes is if the new CBA gives everyone more buyouts like last time

Heaven's no.

Don't like this deal from our end at all.

I'd start with something around Saad/Seabrook (1m retained) for Lucic/Pulj/Sekera/Spooner & a 2nd, and go on from there.

Even with 1 mil retained Seabrook would cost 6 mil and has one more year then Lucic on his current deal.....the deal that guy suggested is pretty lopsided for them Drai for Toews makes us worse....Seabrook for Klefbom makes us worse

Via by trade, it all depends on which team wants to take a gamble at hoping that Lucic rebounds. Boston may be that team. As Rated stated, he has familiarity and success with the players there before.

I'd be rolling the dice in hoping that Seabrook at least stays in a top 4 position for a few more years, giving Bouchard enough time to develop steadily. Last 2 years will suck, but I'm willing to bite the bullet if we also land Saad, whom I believe needs a change of scenery in order to get the best out of him. Not to mention I think Saad complements Hitchcock's style of play perfectly and would be a great linemate for RNH.

And yeah, the deal that guy mentioned is sooo in favor for them it's not even funny.
At least it got the tires rolling.

We have different opinions on Seabrook and that’s alright....I don’t think he is that good now but that’s just my opinion
