Yes, it's astounding and yet there are STILL fans that complain about Draisaitl and Nuge.

Honestly, when we had Hall, and Eberle. I was pro trade Drai or Nuge. Now, if we trade them I give it 2 weeks befor Mcdavid asks out as well. Its a horrible situation, thats been exasperated by inept management. The on ice product is more on the management then the players. Dont get me wrong they should have some pride and at least compete.

It's not even a style the game has evolved from. Even 5 years ago teams needed depth scoring
- MaximumBone

Very true, but he seems to like big guys that cant move for crap. As well, If they cant keep up with todays speed. They arnt good. The percentage of that back end, are to slow and the puck dies on there stick.

Definitely seems like a new GM is long overdue. As crazy as it sounds, it might be a good time to tank again. Bring in a new GM who can make some solid deals moving out players like Kassian, Lucic, Talbot etc. Keep the core intact and really build around the 3 strong centres. It's so weird that the Oilers have so much depth at centre, on paper one of the best in the league, but can't find wingers to play with them. Again, that's management's fault. A culture change would go a long way, watching the Oilers play it seems like they have the weight of the world on their backs.

Im not sure where I was reading this article, but they had a bar graph with the contribution of scoring from the bottom 6. They are not just in last. The gap between them and the next worse team, is bigger than the gap between the second last place, and first.

I think I know what you are talking about.....isn’t it the same one that showed our 4 guys were in the top ten in production just based off of 4 people groups?

Imagine what it would be like to live in a fishbowl. It would suck to be in a Canadian city, as a star on a team that is pooping the bed. Along with being a professional and losing. That would suck and and then your mistakes being magnified. Probally does not help.

They are idiots....poor Nuge could certainly use some help on his wing tho he certainly isn’t going to do it all on his own

Gonna have to give to get. Nurse for Saad.

BTW, you don't move out a Lucic, you buy him out because nobody will take that contract, never mind the player himself.

I’m sort of new to this site and also don’t follow Oilers that much. I did read that Chia wanted to “change the culture” on the roster to support McDavid. If the Blackhawks go full rebuild and blow up everything, while trying to get younger....just seeing what opinions your fan base would have. This is all just hypothetical and would mean players would accept NMC trade.

To Edmonton: C Toews, LW Saad, D Seabrook (or swap D Keith for LW Saad) plus some prospects/picks

To Chicago: LW Lucic, C Spooner, C Draisaitl, D Klefbom, RW Puljujarvi

Chicago would get younger in rebuild years. Edmonton would get rid of Lucic/Spooner contracts and get veteran championship players. Toews & Saad on 2nd line against other teams top lines and RNH slides up to LW with McDavid.

Anyway, I just thought I would see what Oiler fans’ opinions were on what they needed and if Blackhawks were “open for business”.

I came on here just to specifically laugh at this pile of hot poop you spewed. That is a (frank)ing terrible trade.

Forwards
McDavid
Drai
Nuge
Puju (AHL)
Yamamoto (AHL)
Benson (AHL)
Khaira

Defence
Klefbom
Larsson
Nurse
Jones
Bouchard (Minors)

That’s a decent foundation to build a team around.....put someone in the GM seat who has a true understanding of the game today and I’m sure they could make something of that....but nope Chia has decided to do the opposite

You could hire Peter Chiarelli, Mike Milbury and the guy below to make the trade and it wouldn’t be that (frank)ing bad.

When it was over, head coach Ken Hitchcock unloaded on a team that didn’t even bother to engage.

“We had one player show up and play, Darnell Nurse,” he said. “He was our best player by a mile, he was one of our most competitive players on the ice and that’s all we had.

“We didn’t compete. (LA’s) best players were their best players and we didn’t compete. This is on everybody. Everybody. When you have one player who competes at a high level in a game like this it can’t be acceptable. There’s been too much of this go on in the first 41 games.

“We win one, and then we take our foot off the gas. And that’s what we did. This is what happens when you don’t show up.”

“I think you are what you are and what has to change for us is we’re a situation motivated team,” said Hitchcock, adding they only dig in when they’re shamed into it. “It has to come from in the locker room. So you or I or anybody else can bark and female dog and scream and yell all we want, but it has to come from inside the locker room.

“I’ve only been here for 21 games and I can see the situation motivates us. We lose, we get embarrassed, we get motivated. That isn’t a playoff team, that isn’t a playoff attitude, and we have to change. This can’t be acceptable.”

Is this a character flaw in the team?

“I don’t know what it is,” said Hitchcock, exiting the media scrum. “We’ll figure it out. I’ve said enough. I’ll get myself in further trouble, but this is not acceptable.”

Yes, it's bad, but we're talking about a hypothetical involving Chia, so of course you guys are going to lose on the trade. But to my original point, you guys aren't going to get the winger that McDavid needs without giving up something substantial. And when you look at Chia's history of trades, you'd be lucky to get Saad for Nurse.
