We would be giving Ottawa a 2nd pick most likely in top 5. Crazy. I'd be okay if we got a 1st round for Simmer and turned that over for Duchene.
- cdearth23

If Fletch can work out a hand sake deal extension then that would be a hell of a move.

This season is a lost cause and semantics be damned we are effectively in year 4 of the Hexy plan and month 2 of the Fletcher plan.

Yes its great that thevFirst two seasons were Hexy fixing cap issues and the like. He deserves a ton of credit for that and the prospect pool.

As paying fans I hope people stop going to the arena for the rest of the season. It won happen but even average attendance being 10k is a statement.

When you have paying customers you can't just perpetually keep planning for the future at the cost of the present.

Stay calm, no ridiculous reactionary trades, get to the off-season and recommit as an organization to being a winner.

As a fan I want to team to improve. Wanting fans to stay away from going to games is something that can hurt the team. I don't want anything done to hurt the team.

Edmonton is desperate to make the playoffs and need to win games right now to stay in the hunt. I have a hard time believing they aren’t looking hard at Simmonds right now.
- coffee junkie

That’s one team the flyers risk losing as a Simmonds player as time ticks on. Right now chia still is deluded enough to think they have a shot. Hitch worked for 2 weeks

Getting bounced in the first rounds is a waste

My wife laughs at me every year I say I need a new team.
Besides the sh!t product on the ice, this promo is really just the biggest joke ever. A phucking defibrillator, really?
I would fire everyone in promotions.
Slowly but surely, I'm leaning to VGK as a new team.
Something was said by Bellmare when they had their slow start.
He said, "we are not panicking, everyone in this room comes to work everyday and put there workboots on."
It shows in their play and it is an attitude/mentality they have.
Our club seemed to lose those intangibles/attitudes when Mr. Snider passed.

As fans staying away is our only recourse.

It's the Flyers. They'll finish dead last in the NHL and end up picking 4th.

This is known.

We can't have nice things.
Think that started with the death of Pelle.

Agreed that is why I am dreading a Sanheim + Frost for Quick deal happening. This season is over, forget it. Call up young players and actually play them to get exp.

Improve goaltending in off season.

We can’t commit to a goalie long term with hart on the way

Or they will pick first and Hughes will turn out to be what NOPA has been to this point.

If that's the impression that I gave, it was not my intent. I don't want to move him immediately for minimal return, I just think that, if you publicly shop him, you could get a good return for a 1/2 season of Simmonds compared to a 1/3 season of him.
- jmatchett383

Not sure what you mean by publicly shop him? You want Fletcher to issue a press release stating that they want to trade Simmonds? I don’t really know what goes on behind closed doors, but it seems to me that if you and I are aware that the Flyers want to trade Simmonds than NHL GMs are also aware of it.

All I said was imorove goaltending, I didn't say commit to someone.

If they start the season and say "Hart is our number 1 and Elliot our number 2" that is an improvement to me.

I think the patiemce approach breeds complacency. The flyers teams of old under Holmgren and clarke had one thing going for them, they were usually competitive and hungry. I think SOMETIMES a panic move can stir the pot enough to make some sparks. Like some others have said, the old regime got us to the finals, they just couldn’t put together a team that could get over the hump. Yes some more patience would have done wonders but now we’re being obstinate. This season is a wash unless hart elevates his game to an elite level. We already know the 8mill/year guys won’t impose their will and manufacture wins like real elites do.

That’s probably another good reason you mentioned about the TDL. Some teams aren’t sure if they are buyers or sellers until closer to the TDL....what if the Flyers rolled of 14 wins in a row ? And moved into Playoff spot ? Not that it will happen, but it sure would change their narrative.
- landros 2
Unfortunately, we are closer to losing 14 in a row. This team couldn't win 14 in a row against AHL teams.

Fletcher’s track record indicates that he is willing to make the “big deal”. I think it’s pretty safe to assume he would move Simmonds if he got a good offer. The conclusion I draw is that he just hasn’t gotten a decent offer yet. I don’t understand why some fans think Fletyis dragging his feet on making a move. Can’t make a trade without someone else to trade with.

It’s unacceptable because we’re talking about the friggin’ Philadelphia Flyers, an organization that in the past had NEVER settled for mediocrity, and was — for better or worse — committed to doing everything in their power to put the best product on the ice sooner, rather than later.

Apathy is growing by leaps and bounds here every day. Maybe that will somewhat change after we get smoked by the Blues and Caps in the coming days. Just don’t see the point in accepting losing in the hopes the lottery balls will fall our way to draft Hughes.

- BroadSTmayhem

The only effect a deal this season will have is generating buzz. While that may appease apathetic fans, it won't generate wins.

Right now, I'd rather see what some prospects can do with the big club and how the young kids already here handle more responsibility. I think that generates buzz, continues development, and gives the GM a better sense of what the team needs leading up to the deadline and the off-season.

He'd be GM of the year. Unload Simmer to a contender for a mid to late 1st round pick. Flip that pick plus an NHLer and prospect to Ottawa for Duchene and a piece or two. THEN, not done, sign Duchene to a 5 or 6 year deal. Wow.

Not happening.

I agree with the first point. They can't trade their way out of this. However I'm reluctant to bring a number of young players up in the current team situation

So as we went back and forth on the coach, I have come to realize you were correct. The problem was within this group of players. They have no care or self motivation, so for all of my wasted words arguing it was the coached fault, I apologize!

A guy like NAK deserves an extended look, there is little else that he can accomplish at the AHL level. I also want to see Morin get into some games this year. Other than that, I’d leave the kids in LHV. They’ll be better off.

I really appreciate that and really not necessary. Just two guys talking hockey.
