Better any team than the Sens.
- Scabeh

Not sure I like the idea of a MacKinnon-Hughes 1-2 or having Krappo Kakka lining up beside Rantanen for the next 10 years.

He also played the night before and then found out the next morning that he was playing in an afternoon game...

I’m no goalie but I imagine it isn’t easy to do that.

Agreed.

The Sens are in last place.

And they don't have their own first round picks.

I feel like it's important to remind everyone of how awesome this is.

Better the Avs than an Eastern team.
- Dongull_Trump

Sens would still suck with him....especially after they lose Duchene and Stone.

Have you learned anything from opposing fan bases?

They are (frank)ed if they get Hughes. They will have to pay him a lot of money and everyone knows having good players sucks because you have to pay them.

There is the temptation to look at the Avs and think "crap, the Sens have sort of screwed the rest of the league, because those Avs are going to be stacked", but I actually like the Avs.

This really is amazing. The Sens have orchestrated the biggest disaster the league has seen in a long time.

It gets even better...

Just wait until Duchene walks or is dealt for pennies on the dollar.

I think you forgot about Edmonton who with one of the best players in the league and about 8 first overall pick in the last decade still manage to not get into the playoffs, let alone become a serious contender

Chia is awful. That much is obvious.

With that said, I'm convinced Lowe or Mactavish or both must be a problem for that organization. They've been constants around that team for nearly the duration of their issues the last 6-7 years.

Every fanbase thinks that about national broadcasters in every sport, because of their emotions. The bias is on the fans' part. Same with reffing complaints. Complaints about the league. Everyone's out to get the fanbase' team. It's adorable.
- Zezel

It has nothing to do with National coverage. For some insane reason we got Hughson and Simpson calling around 7 of the first 10 games of the season. And when it is a National broadcast, we do get them every single time (except the one Bob Cole game that was a true godsend). That makes them Leafs announcers. They should call games as such. Not with their constant female doging about everything Leafs.

Reffing isn't anti Leafs. It's anti consistency. It's pretty obvious that the NHL tries to make the games as even as possible, penalty wise. Which is ridiculous. The Leafs, as a team, don't take a lot of penalties. So because of that, they don't get rewarded all the power plays they should. Teams that are fast, skilled, and all around dangerous, always get a lot more power plays than penalties. Except the Leafs, apparently.

Cole and Neale were my favourite combo by far. Neale was quite funny, great counterpoint to Cole's dramatic tone.

They were amazing. Same with Bonsie and Neale.

And I really like Bonsie and Ralph right now.

I'm sorry, but Bob Cole commenting was horrible that last game.
No offense to him, but it was time he retired..
It was clearly showing that he was missing a lot of the information and he was naming players differently, just didn't understand what was going on at all.
I understand the guy is some sort of a legend, but as a relative outsider, I can understand he retired. Still respect to him and his career.

Two quick points:

I don't find Hughson that bad. I find Simpson to be open about his hatred of the Leafs - which he has been quite happy to share with the public since his draft year.

Bingo on the reffing. It's the only franking league sport in the world where the ref sees an infraction, then does a quick mental calculation of: the score; the time of the game; the number of previous penalties; and who the two players involved are (considerning their respective skill levels) and then decides whether or not to make the call.

And it's not the refs' fault - that is how they are told to call games.

The best thing that ever happened to the NHL was the crackdown on obstruction. it made an unwatchable product watchable again. But the franking fans bellyached whenever their team was called for it, so of course over time the NHL backed off.

I franking hate this league.

It's been that bad for probably 10 years now. Most games he would call it was a comedy of errors.

Old timers like him because of the nostalgia factor, and apparently he was quite good in the earlier years

Blamed work. She's doing two jobs and when she applied for her previous job (which had just been promoted to a higher salary level), she was turned down by the new VP because they want an "Executive" level person for the position...at non-"Executive" level income.

Yes, but at least they HAVE that player. The Sens just gave one away for nothing.

Also, Melnyk, crappy arena, no Lebreton, Dorion, forensic investigators, trojan actors, Alfredsson jump ship, Spezza jump ship, Karlsson jump ship, all captains jump ship, "I'M NOT PAYING DANY HEATLEY HIS SIGNING BONUS", acquired Phaneuf, instagram conspiracies with wives, "we are a team", tarp over seats, fake banners in the rafters, Mark Stone about to GTFO, Bobby Ryan, Melnyk, Alexei Yashin, Uber-gate, ottawa.
