Apparently stupid isn't reserved just for here
From Garth's blog.
Are you retarded? No that’s a serious question? Coots sanheim for a mid to late 1st round pick and crappy horrible contract can’t skate Okposo? Try middlestadt and all 3 first rounders to start - gordong

Late to the party on the article, but, there's having patience (which I understand), and being needlessly cautious. If they don't want to call their bluechips up from Roch in order to develop them, that's fine, but playing Smith where they are doesn't help anyone. The line had great energy, but you're putting Smith with 2 guys who have combined for 10 goals. I know, I know, that's SOP for NHL clubs, but that doesn't mean that's how it has to go.
That goes for Sobotka centering Sheary and Thompson instead of Mittelstadt taking Sobotka's place as well. I understand they were in a rough place injury wise, but it should never be the answer to play Elie with Mitts. That's just silly. Could there have been more gaffes if Mittelstadt was there? Maybe, but maybe they would have created more as well.
I would rather the season live and die with some creativity than the bland line combinations that are presented on game nights. |

If it takes a difficult season where his Sabres miss the playoffs despite the 10-game winning streak then, much to the consternation of many in Sabreland, so be it.
I also disagree with this contention. I think the Sabres 2020 first in conjunction with other pieces should be in play. Trading your first is a bet on yourself. If things continue to progress, we should all be hoping that pick is in the 20s anyway. I definitely understand the desire to keep the Blues pick, and to a lesser extent the 2019 Sabres first. To sit idly by and watch the season retreat would be a big mistake imo.
The conservative line making that Housley employs, combined with the conservative in-season moves by Botterill is not what I had hoped for.
That said, I fully expect them to do more of the same. |

I definitely agree with this. At some point, they're going to need to throw caution to the wind, because they're lost a TON of ground recently. What they're doing isn't working. They can't continue to hope to keep things close like they have (that part IS working) but then lose by 1 goal each night. Does it really matter if they lose by 1 or if they lose by 3? Try SOMETHING else to get SOMEONE going other than Reinhart, Eichel, and Skinner.

I would trade those first round picks right now for a Mid 20's center that can score.. Sure Coots would be great to get from Philly but that is not going to happen, but I would try to get Giroux for the next 3 years, maybe he only cost you a first, Nylander and or Olofsson and okposo as a salary dump. Then you have Eichel and Giroux as your tops centers.

Finally the Sabres look to be turning the corner.
Conservative management and coaching
Good long term planning - finally
I doubt we see anything fun for fans.
Rochester call ups, thats about it.
