It is odd that Jack didn't participate, it's a marketing event and your biggest name didn't do it. He must actually be hurt. Because, as you said, it's a "skills" competition, not exactly a big injury chance, maybe have him just do the shootout and accuracy to really nix any chance, hardest shot, and agility there's a chance, Dahlin could've busted an ankle after he fell and almost went into the end boards. A friend of mine broke his ankle on a very similar play where it looked like nothing and he was on crutches for months.

Isn't that what the Sabres are doing with Mitts? it appears so. He young and needs to watch some games or play with some smaller, younger players who are really hungry. Clearly he has the talent and will be a solid NHL'er, but not right now.

And let's hope the Sabres do not use those skills challenge uniforms

Maybe, but they haven't rushed him to take over Eichel's 1C position even though talent wise he is most suitable, they haven't stuck him as 2C for eternity in a sink or swim scenario...as they have moved him down the lineup as he continues to struggle.

They need to take a similar approach they have with Tage. Yes sit him. For a couple games, to coach him up not as a punishment. Coaching around the clock, during practice, extra time after practice, at night watching film...then drilling corrections/suggestions next practice day.

I do think they are aware he is likely going through fatigue syndrom many you ger players go through in their 1st season...according to those younger players themselves talk about the next season or two. Both mental fatigue, and physical. So giving him less mi utes, less responsibility while moving through it is recognition of it, IMO.

He will be fine.
He makes rookie minimum wages and 20 months ago was playing High School/Developmental level hockey...so he is completely absolved of all issues. Not like a guy in his 3rd season after 4 year college career.
