I don't doubt that, but that's not worth the price. I'm not moving one of our few possible top-6 forwards for a 35 point winger that doesn't actually give us cap space.

I’m not that optimistic about Benson. Hope I’m wrong, but still.

Producing well in the AHL while leading AHL rookies in shots (last I checked). As a 20 year old, that's enough for me to have some faith.

(frank) penalty minutes in fantasy league (HockeyBuzz Fantasy League). I got screwed over last week because my opponent's player racked up 16 points in penalty minutes.

Speaking of penalties I’m surprised there hasn’t been more of a discussion on that cross check to McDavid last night...esp with the ref staring right at it

This.

At this point, can anything be done to make a difference? Hitch tried and that really didn't help.

Instead of calling out the officials publicly you could get into contact with the league and say hey wtf is going here and involve the DOPS....doesn’t matter if it’s McDavid or Jenny hockey or whoever....that’s a dangerous play

It doesn’t look like there will be one.....instead the narrative is “why didn’t someone come to McDavids aid?” I’m pretty sure Gambardella went after Lindholm but was cut off by Getzlaf

This could be one way to approach the situation.

Methinks it may also be a key thing to bring up when the CBA expires and the NHLPA comes into play during negotiations.

Well at least this way you aren’t “embarrassing” those poor little official guys by doing it publicly....you would have to think there will be some kind of discussion as far as officials go during those meetings

Literally from the NHLPA website in the what we do section: "Improving working conditions and creating player safety initiatives."

So, it would only make sense for it to be brought up.

They get paid good money to live out a life that would be a dream for many of us. They should be held accountable to the highest standard. (frank) their pride and rep if it means striving for consistent standards.

It has to be brought up in those meetings.

To my understanding, they ARE held to some kind of standard. There's internal review that involves them being judged for competence and capability where the best are then used in the playoffs- the big money for them. I think they also get fewer games if there are consistent issues, but I can't confirm that part.

I think there oughta be more, but they ARE doing something.

I think there is truth to the best refs get the playoff assignments....refs aren’t going to be perfect and somethings get missed which I can understand but when you look right at it and call nothing that’s when I have to ask wtf NHL? At this rate I’m sure a neck will need to be broken before something is done

This may be true as I've read that there is a difference in wages between refs due to consistency and experience, but just how far does this go? What if what is currently happening is something that all refs are allowing? How do you go from there?

One way we could find out that this is the case is by crossreferencing all of the games with a similar controversial issue with the ref involved in that game.
