For a guy who was pegged as the heart of the team he sure as hell is showing no compete out there at all. To be honest Simmonds in my eyes will always be overrated as a Flyer , sure everyone loved him because of his supposed heart and hustlehe would show out there but if you really look at the goals he's scored throughout his career they are all garbage collector goals standing around in front of the net. Obviously every team needs a player who plays that way but he's always been severely overrated by the fan base when you look at his actual skill set and what he brings to the ice each night.

Those aren't easy goals to get and he did put it all on the line for years. He's not the same player now though. Not even close.

I have to say I'm legit shocked to see a guy look so disinterested in a contract year.

The tank is on. Wonder if we're gonna get a full rebuild. I don't want more years of this poop
- bulet13

Keep Giroux, Provorov, Sanheim, Konecny, Patrick, Hart. Everyone else should be available.

Pretty much the entire team got outplayed tonight. I digress though, it's all Simmonds fault.

Scott Gordon is thinking he wants to be sent back down to the AHL.

I doubt it ..
The arena is dead.
Apathy has set in.
We have a dead man walking as a coach.

- opeth_pa

A blind man could see that this team, which quit on its last coach, wasn't going to put out much effort for an interim coach everyone knows wont be around next season. This team has cancer, and it starts from the vets and has infected all the kids.

They play with no confidence in themselves or each other. The vets are going through the motions and the kids have no rudder.

He's the big ticket UFA. That's why he's getting talked about. You know this.

Screw everyone. This team is legit terrible.

I dont know how you can say he will always be overrated as a player..
Prior to the last two seasons he was our best goal scorer and our only fighter.
To say what he brings to the ice each night is severely overrated is ridiculous IMO.

That version of SImmer is long gone though.

Just my guess

I think this team really misses the leadership a veteran like Andrew MacDonald provides. Guy always led by example and wasn’t afraid to break a few stones if guys quit competing.

I know he was a solid locker room presence as well.

I know the traditional thing to do is wait til the deadline but poop, this team needs a real shakeup. Find a freaking hockey trade and pull the trigger.

So unbelievably sick of watching this group. The players have to feel hopeless at this point too.

- hereticpride

Why rush it? Season is over. Wait for the best deal and take it. Its pretty much a given Fletcher isnt going to make any deals to shake up the team, there is no point this late in the season.

Just got to weather the storm. The team will be better next season. They arent playing great but at the same time anything that can go wrong has gone wrong. I have played one of those seasons and unfortunately you gotta play through it as painful as it is.

My point with that post is I'd rather see young guys up learning than a bunch of dudes playing who don't give a (frank) at all.
- FreshFlyer

I agree 100%, I am an advocate of seeing young players up throughout the year to see how they do and if needed sent back down to work on things. Personally I find that to be one of the best developing tools a team has. You can tell a player to do this and that all year, but until they see it for themselves.

I would rather have Misha playing instead of Weal, but the Flyers way is to have "Vets" who perform poorly that cBlock young kids.

That would involve calling someone up and everyone knows that the Flyers management is too dumb to do that.

Flyers really playing well now. They are almost at the top spot. The top worst spot that is. They are just behind the sens. I believe they can do it. Almost the best at being the worst.

This team couldn’t be entertaining by accident. Boring to watch and no effort. This team is awful, you would be hard pressed to try to put a team together that is this indifferent and bland.
